If you've already seen what Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley had in store then consider Wild Gunman as a nice brief trip through the Wild West.

You're getting quite some impressive High Scores on Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley then perhaps you'd want to take your shooting skills into the Wild West with Wild Gunman for the NES, where it was originally an electro-mechanical arcade game machine in 1974. Will you hold on to your red plastic Light Gun for a quick draw showdown? Read on to find out.
Wild Gunman's gameplay works the same way as with Duck Hunt; you got 3 different minigames to pick from. Game A is 1 Outlaw where you take on just one guy in a quick draw and then you'll advance to the next round. You'll have to wait for the signal to draw and shoot him otherwise shooting him gives you a foul. If you react very slowly then you'll lose the duel. You're allowed 3 tries and then it's game over. Game B 2 Outlaws is the same game but the only difference is that there two guys to wait for the signal for and then shoot them. Sometimes one guy will not join in the duel and just hang around just to trick you so you'll need to be aware of that. Surprisingly the quick draw is simulated quite well for a Zapper game and rewards you for how fast you drew your gun out and shot.
Game C is called Gang where you shoot outlaws that will appear from the building before one shoots you in which you restart the round, three fails and then its game over by the way. This is the best of the three games that's put into the cartridge and the guns accuracy is much better and if you've played the other games on this game cartridge.
The game requires the Zapper to play it and your goal in the game is to shoot down Outlaws before they shoot you. The Zapper isn't as accurate because in Game A and B the accuracy is off because the white square's area covers the entire playfield which makes it impossible to miss which defeats any purpose of accurate quick draw battles.
Just like Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley the graphics are mostly basic with a look at a dessert area on Game A and B. On Game C is where you're standing outside the Saloon. Whenever you are shot the screen turns red while the track plays a part from Chopin's "Funeral March" which makes your death realistic to witness. One thing that is strange is that you see their eyes turn to star shapes for a brief second when they give out the signal.
If you played Duck Hunt or Hogan's Alley then to summarise this review, Wild Gunman is a decent game for the NES but the game and gun are sold separately which is disappointing since the gun is required to play the game. If you enjoy plenty of Zapper games then this might be fun to enjoy at least or to anyone who thinks they can hold a gun like a baby's toy. "You mean, you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!" Back to the Future II reference.

The Good Points:
1. Game C Gang is the most enjoyable of the three games on the cartridge
2. Plays Funeral March whenever you lose a round.
The Bad Points:
1. The Zapper isn't as accurate because in Game A and B the accuracy is off
