I'm not big on racing, but this game, is actually pretty good.
The bad: Music tracks are weird-the ships seem the same to me-repetive (but long) "Story" mode
Why say "All flash no substance"? Well, I say that because this game looks amazing, but behind the good looking graphics there's a game that has you doing the same races over and over again.
Gameplay: The story for Wipeout Pulse is...uhhhh... oh wait, THERE IS NO STORY! You spend the whole entire "story" mode racing races in future based tracks racing against either AI opponents or against people online. That's basicly the whole game. There is no story. Why are you racing? What motivates your character with no name (or face) to race? Who invented these ships? All these questions remain unanswered, but that dosen't hurt the game too bad, it's just kinda annoying. The AI is somewhat smart. Rather then trying to attack your ship and only your ship with cool future weapons, they go for other people also. Overall, the gameplay isn't bad, but it won't "blow you away" with...awsomeness.
Controls: The controls feel good. There are several control schemes, but the best one is default control scheme wich involves anolog sitck (Or directinal pads) steering, and air brakes to help with sharp turns.
Graphics: These are some of the bet i've seen behing God Of War. The ships are nicly detailed and the tracks look nice, but they all feel the same. Basicly, they resemble each other with basic turns, and loops. It's also cool to take pictures during gameplay, but it can be annoying how something really cool happens, and you manage to pause the game a second too late and miss the awsome pic. You can also set the pics. as your backround (On a random note...)
Sound/music: The sound sounds, almost muffeled. Explosions from expolding ships should make your ears ring, but these are very quiet. Although quiet, it sounds good though. Now the music. It says on the back "Feturing tracks by..." and it lists a bunch of "bands" I never heard of. And anyways, all the songs friggin' SUCK! What is this?!? It's just some crappy beat that sounds futureistic, but it really sucks. It almost kinda hurts to say theat, considering all the work put into music, how horrable the songs are. To save you trouble future buyers, X-project, is the best track (It's still not the good, but it's better than the rest.)
Replay value: 7.5/10 You won't be begging to play this game again, but the is a long story mode that can occupy you for a long time, if you stay interested. There is also a racebox mode, which lets you custimize races (No, sadly no track making.) and by custimize races, I mean chose the type of race, the track, weither to have weapons, etc.
Conclusion:Wipeout fans should be pleased (I'm not one of them), racing fans should try this game, so... yeah.
