The best PSP game to date

User Rating: 9.4 | Wipeout Pure PSP
The Wipeout series has always been the master of high expectations, and Pure is no exception. All of the elements of the past versions are there, along with a new race mode, explained later.

I was pleasantly suprised after paying $30 to find that this was the game to get. After playing Wipeout and Wipeout XL for the PS1, it was nice to see that Sony has kept with the themes for this installment. I have never owned a PS2, but I can tell that this is probably the best Wipeout game to date. Wipeout Pure is a pure (no pun intended) adrenaline rush.

The game features many ships, with even more available for download directly from the wipeout menu, under "downloads". By downloading expansion packs, you gain access to many more ships, tons of tracks, and more menu "skins" (color schemes) to suit your tastes.

The new game mode mentioned earlier is my most played mode, aside from Wi-Fi multiplayer. This mode is called "ZONE" where you are put in a super-sleek craft, and have to survive 4 tracks of twisting, winding tracks, as your speed constantly increases. Every lap, however, you regain a very small fraction of your shield energy, IF you got a perfect lap.

When the speed class is increased, the speed (duh) and accuracy of the opponent's weapons are exponentially mutiplied. Think the game is easy, after only completing one tournament in Vector? go for the Beta League tracks in Phantom, then you'll see what's coming.

Wipeout has always been an excellent game, and Sony has lived up to my expectations and delivered another masterpiece.
