Actually, I enjoyed this game much more playing it as a simple WW2 shooter - making minimal use of supernatural powers, which tend to make the game too easy - it was a very satisfying game. The combat was excellent - I have seen the AI criticised, but I found it to be quite good. Enemy soldiers woul run for cover when you threw grenades, would try to flank you, would do a very good of hiding themselves and sniping you, making the combat quite challenging when not using the Veil powers. Mind you, the Veil powers were quite well done - it was just I thought they made the game too easy. A good example was the church battle where you had to assault a couple of shielded machine gun nests - too easy with Veil powers, much more challenging & exciting without using them. There were a few bugbears - the checkpoints were often poorly placed - a couple of times I got through about 15 minutes worth of combat, got killed and found myself restarting from about 3 firefights back - very annoying. I didnt like any of the boss battles - because you had to use Veil powers to succeed - it would have been better to have the option of completing them without supernatural powers - would have been a lot more challenging. It probably sounds a bit of a waste to play the game without Veil powers, after all they were a central part of the game's premise, but I just found the game a whole lot more interesting without them.
