User Rating: 9.5 | World of Warcraft PC
If you like MMO's and are even remotely interested in the fantasy genre, this game is for you! WOW was made right. It has superb graphics that are consistent everywhere in the world. It has a rich history and storyline to it which allows for an insane amount of interesting, fun, and involving missions. The sounds and music are fantastic as well. Hell lets just get the vitals over with right now: Gameplay - 10, an MMO lovers dream. WOW will impress you with it's immersion, addict-factor, and leave you wanting more and more. It's amazing that soloing can be truly fun experience in this game, no other MMO in my opinion has attained this. Graphics - 10, this is going to be an opinion based rating. I personally LOVE WOW's graphics. The animations, the toonish feel, everything just looks awesome. It's also very consistent across the world, you really get a sense of immersion which is difficult to describe for a game that looks rather cartoony. Sound - 8, the music is awesome. The sounds are great too, but there is some repetition that could have been worked on a bit. For instance, anyone familiar with Doom 1 and 2 will instantly recognize the IMP death sounds on deer and other wildlife in the game. There are many other sounds that were copied from popular media as well. Still sounds great, but I would rather have not recognized any of these sounds for other games/media. Value - 10, in WOW you get your money's worth. A truly fun, fully featured MMO, tons of content, huge world... it just rocks. Reviewer's Tilt - 9, I truly love this game. While I can't play MMO's for months and months straight (anymore), I keep coming back to WOW because it is so diverse and interesting. Imagine an improved huge world of everquest 1, an improved mission system from city of heroes, an improved loot system from diablo 2, throw in a fantastic story line and many other great things never seen in an MMO before such as the in-game Mail system, and you have a truly fantastic game called World of Warcraft. Many people want to know about lag. Lag is present in World of Warcraft. It can come at the wrong time too and get you killed. But it is not so bad that it's really an issue. First of all the frequency of the lag is rather sparse. You may experience 2 lag events during your play session, both of them harmless. And even if it does get you killed WOW does not have a heavily punishing death system. Simply find your corpse with your ghost, revive, and hit up a repair shop later on and pay for some repairs. It's all good :D I said it before and I'll say it again. If you like MMO's in a fantasy setting, WOW is for you.
