You won't know how good it is until you try it.
For a long time I've avoided playing any real MMO games. I've tried them here and there, but always been disappointed. My amazing computer has been sitting here, waiting for use. Until now I never realized what the problem was. I thought I just didn't have the attention span to do well in an online game, that I couldn't concentrate enough. Now I see the problem. I just had high standards. I can easily waste hours on useless things, but they have to feel worth it. So far, this is the only game that seems worth it. I feel like the creators put in the effort they expect from you, unlike a number of games that try to get my attention with formula copy+paste bullsh*t.
The funny thing is that WoW actually sticks to a pretty basic RPG formula. The quests, the monsters, the characters, they are all fairly generic. I guess this game is proof that, when it comes to entertainment, it's not about nice ideas or cool concepts, its about the execution. This game is perfectly executed.
Alright I just gushed all over WoW, here's a sum up of what makes this game awesome:
+The world us HUGE. It feels so big, you just want to explore it all.
+There is no quantity over quality here. Despite how massive the maps are, they are still detailed and full of life.
+The game is beautiful. The graphics aren't stunning per se, but the quality makes it all you could need. Consistant care was put into all the models, the textures are good, the whole game has a great style and feel to it.
+There is so much diversity and so many choices, all of them good. Every area has it's own climat (forest, tundra, etc.) which makes you excited to discover each one. There are a number of races and classes, each offering its own fun.
+The fact that you have to gain massive amounts of XP to level up (like in any game of the genre) is hardly noticeable with the great number of quests. They generally follow formula, but the way they are presented keep them intreaguing.
There is so much more I could say, but only trying it will really tell you. The entire game is well rounded and clean, but also warm and intuitive. The only downside in the whole thing is that the game is truly addictive. If you're ready to get addicted to a great game with tons of players and financial stability to assure you years and years of value, get a WoW trial now!
Skeptical? Honestly, I was too. WoW looked overrated to me, it seemed like it would be boring. Not until I tried it did I understand why they have a detox for it.
