There is a reason they give you month free when you purchase the game.

Before I even start this review I wish to remind everyone that we are all different and this is based off of my personal experience in World of Warcraft. This is my personal opinion and thoughts of the game and is not meant to influence anybody else's perspective on this game.

World of Warcraft. Everyone has heard of it, millions have played it, but is it truly as great as they say? I have spent countless hours of my 15 years playing many MMORPGs and I can honestly say WoW was not that great. At first it was fun yes. I mean 8 races to choose from, tons of class options, full character customization. However all of this was meaningless when I stepped into the world. Like always I looked at the World map to see the world. Yes it is huge and vast. However half of it is blocked off to you until you can hold your own in PvP.

Now after a few hours you can reach level 10 or so and then the process becomes much longer and much more drawn out. This is where WoW becomes like most MMORPGs out there. Repetitive. Here is a brief flow chart. Go to town - Receive Quests - Kill Monsters - Retrieve Items - Return to town - Turn in Quests - Go Kill More Monsters - Level Up - Repeat. As you can see the gist of the game is killing monsters and completing quests. However unlike in a regular RPG I was not able to find a purpose to the quests. It seemed like they added nothing to the story if there was a story anyway.

By now you have probably reached the end of your month and are thinking one of two things. 1: I need to go buy an airtime card/set up a subscription. Or 2: Wow this game was a waste of my money good thing I don't need to waste anymore.

I am sure you can guess what my thoughts were.

All in all the hype of World of Warcraft made the game seem much more glamorous than it actually was. With all your friends, television shows, and websites forcing the game down your throat there was no doubt that eventually you would purchase it. As one person who experienced the world I shall say that it was an experience I wish I could forget and $40 I wish I could get back.

Lastly I would like to reiterate the fact that this was based off of my own experience with WoW and is my personal opinion of the game.
