Worms 3D returns to the roots of the worms game series. Classically, you choose your character names with the additional of grave stones, voices, flags, and special weapons. The 3D environment lives up to what would be expected from a Worms game. Now you are able to bank shots around corners, build girder houses, and fly super-sheep in first person through mazes to detonate on opponents. Of course, the computer can always calculate impossible shots (which is nothing new), only now they seem even more impossible. You will probably need to spend time practicing with weapons (especially the ninja rope and jetpack) but the single player tutorial take an active role in coaching players on each item and weapon. Also the single player missions give you the opportunity to spend hours honing your skills in the new 3D environment. Again, this game is great for multiplayer where you can take inappropriate measures naming your worms and have a great laugh when the computer names which worm "couldn't swim". As expected, the game is turn-based and all plays off one controller (so you can get the multiplayer satisfaction without paying tons for controllers). The random level generator is okay, not as great as the original (I miss the levels with firey graves). The pre-defined levels are tons of fun, however you have to unlock most items. This game is for the avid player who likes to play mindless games where flawless timing and accuracy are necessary to unlock everything (I'm still only ninety-something percent unlocked myself). The nice thing about this game is when you become overly frustruated, you can opted over to the battlefield and use all your new skills to wipe out everybody with the new weapons you unlocked. I hope this isn't it for Team 17 and the nintendo console because I'm waiting for the Wii version!
