The best game I've ever played and I played a lot of games. Best Multiplayer fun ever!
Ok woms 3d also exist but this version is much better, the gameplay is a lot more optimized. Graphics, sound, maps, just are way nicer.
The singleplayer game is fun and short and that's good because the singleplayer is really only good to get the hang of the game because this game can be really difficult , not in single player but in multiplayer.
Don't get me wrong the single player is still fun and has a real funny story.
There are tons of weapons, utilities and game settings. You can make your own game style and add some strange stuff into the mix like double damage,moon gravity, crates everywhere.
You have a lot of cool new (or not so new) weapons and utilities like the sentry gun, bubble trouble, tail nail, flood. The stuff you can do with the rope here is just plain epic. You can move mines, crates, barelles with your rope
If you're up against good players that are specialized in their own gamestyle you're really up for a blast when you're a good player. In this game you can really play dirty. This game is all about being the most slick guy with the dirtiest tactics. Off course if you're a real pro that helps a lot. If you really master the ninja rope you can travel vast distances flying trough the air. Speaking of flying there's an utility called icarus potion that gives you wings, it takes some training to fly though.
To give you an example of an a custom game i made was called 'hardlife'
I added double damage , extra throwing weapon damage and moon gravity.
This is the highest damage you can get. You started the game with only a holy grenade and a couple of banana bombs, ropes, jetpack icarus potion , some girders, parachute and prod (is just giving a little push) some bubbles and a sentry gun.. A holy grenade is like an atomic bomb that leaves behind a hole like it was a meteor crater. Off course in this game you have to seek the high ground and spread your worms. Because one holy grenade can take out your whole team (on a small map, the grenade will almost destroy the whole map)
Anyway this is just an example what you could do with a gamestyle.You could also choose for very low damage high health and tons of guns. There are just too much things you can do to explain em all here. You can do a lot but still the amount of game styles and settings you can change doesn't feel like it's too much. You don't lose your overview if you have played the single player game because then you know what's what.
You can also customize your worm and team completely to your liking like in the previous worms versions. The map generator is still there, so is the dynamite, old woman, donkey, and so on and there 's some new stuff too but i won't spoil everything for you.
To conclude; This game has great gameplay, artistic graphics that just look good, superb sound and the score is just amazing. It's like some ambient trip hop. The game feels original even if you played all the worms before. Do realize this is not your 2d worms you will have to adapt your tactics.
Because of the difference in games you can play games that are very short some can take up to hours. The only reason i didn't gave this game a 10 is because it sometimes crashes in multiplayer, it mostly happens in the beginning though. Still if you have rounded up some teams and are ready to battle. The crash really demotivates you. It doesn't happen that often though but enough to give this game a 9.5 instead of a 10.
Anyway best game i've ever played. Do try it.
P.S i don't know what's gotten into the reviewer giving it 6.2 . Gamespot is mostly right with their review scores but 6.2 is way too low they should a least have given it a 8.5 but imo it deserves 9.5
