It took quite long for a wrestling game to enter the PSP library, and it was well worth the wait, cause Smackdown rocks!
Gameplay:
If you have played the PS2 version of this game or any of the previous Smackdowns, you will be familiar with the moves and the way it is to be played. But even for first-timers, the gameplay is easy to get used to and is absolutely brilliant. The great thing about it is that they have not changed the physics since the first game in the series and thats all good as the gameplay mechanics are quite close to perfect.
Graphics:
Apart from a few jagged edges, the graphics are pretty much the same as the PS2 version. It is remarkable how the wrestlers are so well modeled when you see it on a handheld. The framerate does drop in some places but it isnt a problem at all.The arenas are very well made and everything looks perfect, apart from the crowd. The crowd is so ugly that you would have wished it wasnt there at all. It looks like a mush of crap all jumping up and down together and they couldve atleast made them a little human. But if you dont pay attention to thm ,its all fine. Character animation is great as well.
Sound:
Like always the song selection is quite weird but nice at the same time. the voice overs this time are amazing, everything is in sync with the wrestlers and quite cool too. Although the commentry is missing , it really dosent make much of a difference. Everything else including weapon hits body smals all sound great, no problems here.
Overall:
With over 50 wrestlers including awsome legends, all the previous match types with all combinations imaginable and new modes like the burried alive one, everything in the game is sup[erb and it is astounding how THQ could fit all this into 1 UMD. Season mode is more fun to play than any PS2 version too, with different stories, you will enjoy playing through it again and again. There are some mini games as well that are very very funny and weird . The one and only problem i had with the game was the loading time. Although it decreases when you play the game for the second time. It is still soo long, if you plan on playing this game on a roadtrip, you better have more than 1 battery ready, cause most of the time will be drained out while loading itself. But, you can get used to it, cause Smackdown vs Raw 2006 is a brilliant game on its own, and for something like this to be seen on a handheld is unbelievable. Totally worth the 50$, must buy.
