"Perhaps one of the best wrestling games to date."

User Rating: 8.7 | WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw PS2
WWE: Smackdown Vs Raw is one of the best wrestling games that I've ever played. Smackdown Vs Raw is probably the best wrestling game next to WWF No Mercy. The graphics on SvR are simply awesome. The wrestlers look very realisitic and animate very well. The backgrounds and the special effects are simply the best I've seen on a wrestling game. The gameplay is awesome, the wrestling system on this game is set up just like SM:Here Comes The Pain and it plays just as well. Also, there are mini-games that happen before the match starts which are quite fun to play and add little bit more excitement to the matches. The sound is this game is good and bad. The background music that is performed by artists is a great touch to the Smackdown series. I think that people are getting kind of sick hearing generic background music that have been in the past Smackdown games. The sound of this game is good for the sound effects, but, the voice overs for the superstars is completely generic. Most superstars voice's lack personality and sound monotone. You can tell that the superstar was just reading from a script not actually acting it out. I think they would have been better off, if they had text boxes instead of the superstar voice overs. The difficulty of this game can be anywhere from very easy to very difficult. This game is very difficult when you're first starting out on the Season mode. Just like Here Comes The Pain, you have to build up your superstar as you go on in Season mode, and early on your superstar cannot withstand as much damage as your opponent, which puts you a serious disadvantage against the computer in early on in the Season Mode. The Season Mode is this game is so-so. You can only go into your locker room and into matches. You can't move around to different places like you could in the previous Smackdown games. Also, the season mode is pretty linear, you can't make that many choices in the Season mode. I haven't played SvR online, because I don't have online capability for my PS2, so, I can't review that part of SvR. Overall, if you like the previous Smackdown games, then you'll enjoy this game. A definite buy for people that enjoyed the previous Smackdown games, but, if you not sure, if you'll like this game, then rent it first.
