Why have any other wrestling game?
User Rating: 9 | WWF No Mercy N64
This game is the perfection of wrestling games. Sure, the graphics aren't the best since the XBox and PS2 have made games. But the setup, the style, the controls, the gameplay, the character design, and almost everything else is seriously the best that is. I'm an old school wrestling fan. Sting and Macho Man Randy Savage are still two of the greats to me. So when I picked up this game, I really didn't care about wrestling. A friend of mine loved it, and it had four person multi-player functions, so I thought it'd be an interesting party game. I rented it, returned it the next day, and went out and bought it the day I returned it. This game is so much fun, and this is coming from a non-wrestling fan. THQ has the wrestling system down pat by now. There really is little at all that could be improved upon in this game. Sure the graphics aren't the best and it is a wrestling game, but it's still a ton of fun. The create-a-wrestler mode is so much fun and very time consuming. My favorite part of RPGs though is creating and editing characters, so I found this area to be the most fun. I made all my friends into wrestlers and made myself into wrestlers, and even made so classic wrestlers and had enough options to make the classic wrestlers almost perfect. The story mode is okay. The story is kind of lame, but depending on you winning or losing a match you can go in different directions. And as you go along you win money which can be used to unlock moves, costumes, characters, and ring settings. It's cool. The multi-player modes are a lot of fun too. You can have cage matches, big brawls, 40 men fights (four in the ring at a time), tag team, ladder matches, and it goes on and on. It's really a great late-night-drank-too-much-coffee-at-the-waffle-house-with-my-friends-and-now-we-have-to-kill-the-night-until-the-caffiene-wears-off game. This game really is a ton of fun. One of the best games on the N64 system. And that system has some really great games on it too so that says a lot.
