this is a good game on the go
Story 3/10
Well, in Season mode, your goal is to win the WWF title, claiming lesser titles along the way. Not really a story, but they tried to make a bit of a story, in a way.
Controls 7/10
A very important part of this game is the controls. The game needs to be very sensitive to what you push to get you the right move, and for the most part it does that. However, some moves are hard to pull off, and climbing the ropes can be a pain as well. These controls may take some practice to figure out. A grapples, B kicks, R charges, and L pins and grabs (weapons). For the most part, to pull off the main assortment of moves, you will grapple and enter a button combo. When you charge, pressing B punches them down and A clotheslines them. Once on the ground, you can flip them over and pick them up, or kick them, do elbow drops, or a submission hold. For the most part, the controls aren't too hard, while pulling off the moves you want when you want them can be troublesome. Sometimes you may do a move you didn't want.
Sound: 9/10
Very nicely done. The music of the guy's entrances was done very well, and the music during match isn't bad either. Some crowd chanting would have been nice, but I'm not complaining.
Graphics: 7/10
There are 2 sides to this: The gameplay graphics and the entrance graphics. Entrance graphics were done very well. Gameplay graphics are a bit cartoonish, and could have been better. It's not that bad, though.
Game Modes: 8/10
Lots of modes, season (password though), Royal Rumble, Pay Per View, Gauntlet, Iron Man, Tag Team, Hardcore, Triple Threat, Cage Match, and of course, good old Single match. Create a wrestler was missed by many here, and is the one thing missing to make this game great.
GamePlay: 7/10
The GamePlay is pretty good, and realistic too, as the wrestlers get more and more tired as they get beat up more. Most of what makes the GamePlay is the controls, which I've already mentioned. One problem is repetitiveness. Once I fought the same guy in season mode 5 times in a row. The matches in season mode are picked randomly. The 1st and 2nd bars at the top of the screen are supposed to be your adrenaline, but really are pointless, and serve no purpose. The 3rd bar is your special bar, and when it is full you can do specials. There's not much more to say, the GamePlay is about average.
Buy or Rent?
Ermm... rent. By day 3 you'll be bored with this game, due to repetitiveness.
