Good effort but it turned out to be a rather average game for the Genesis.

User Rating: 5.7 | WWF Super WrestleMania GEN
Today we have WWE Smackdown vs Raw back then on the Mega Drive Genesis we had WWF Super WrestleMania.

The arcade version had better graphics and I would have to say it had better sound quality too. But those arcade machines had a little more power than the Genesis. Super WrestleMania was launched at the height of the Hulk Hogan era and in this game he has two stars next to his name. That’s one more star than any other wrestler and that’s the stats of the time!

Let’s enter the ring and play the game with a basic punch, a basic kick and with a few more button combo’s a few more moves. Not forgetting those famous finishers you can do with a simple A+C. Now if you are comparing the moves of a wrestler to a Street Fighter™ or Mortal Kombat™ game the list of moves are limited and there aren’t really that much. There are no real combo patterns and other than the difference in moves next to the ropes gameplay is limited.

You do have Championship and Survivor Series modes but they play more or less the same. The introduction are in speech bubbles and the in ring sound effects are poor. The main music is kind of funky it has the right phonics but it lacks the right base. The graphics are okay but they could have been a lot cleaner. There is too much ruff edging left for me but I can certainly appreciate the effort to bring a decent wrestling game to the Genesis.
