A good game that should have been great. Good graphics & story are over-shadowed by long load times & choppy play.
The Bad: Long load times; Repetitive game play; Game play stutters at times.
Graphics:
The graphics were quite nice! I especially liked the X-Men art on the load screens. The only complaint that I have about the graphics is that there was too much happening on the screen at times which made it hard to see where to attack (a minor draw-back).
Story Line:
Engaging story line, although I thought it was frustrating to have to return to the home base in order to hear each chapter.
Characters:
No problems here! They're all there. You can switch between characters at almost any time during the game. Tons of skills and items.
Load Times:
What can I say that has not already been said. This is the point that eventually led me to trade the game. Load times can be expected in any game when you start a mission, but in this game, they are present everywhere; several times within each mission and each time you load a menu screen.
Game Play Stutters?
Come on! This is completely unacceptable. I felt like I was playing Halflife 2 on a lame PC! For me, game play is paramount. I can deal with lousy graphics and sound if a game has the right feel. Shame on you Activision; you killed what could have been a great game.
Bottom line: I was really looking forward to this one, but the more I played it, the more I wished it was over. In the end, I traded it for another title when I was about 80% done.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the idea, but in this age of gaming, a good idea, good graphics and cool characters is not enough; the game must play well also, and this is where they lost me.
