Don't let the heading throw you off, but it is a very enjoyable game to play in its own right, but unless you enjoy the thrill of fighting games without incredibly complex combo systems, or watching an X-men story unfold, you will tire of it quickly. I enjoyed the fact that there were a good amount of characters to choose from, and though the voice acting was less than stellar, using the characters' abilities is the attracting feature. Why shouldn't it be? That's one of the reasons we pick up the X-men in any media. But actually harnessing flight and eye blasts is what keeps the player in the situation, as a part of it. The dampening aspect of this game is really it's controls. Its combo system isn't as complicated as many other 3D or 'mulit-planed' fighters, and that actually saves it somewhat; gamers would turn away at the controls that lack enough responsiveness. You sometimes relegate yourself to simple moves because you can't always have faith in the ones that are a bit more complex when you're in a pinch. Overall, it's a good game to immerse yourself into story-wise, IF you've followed the comic book through it's many twists and turns, or if you'd play through casually. If you want an in-depth fighter, or relish wiping out enemies with always perfectly executed specials, look somewhere else.
