What the? X-plane 9 has been around for 2 years now and still no review? Time to fix that.

X-plane 9 is a very realistic flight simulator. The controlls are easy and with a look at the back of the manual, you can nail down the controls. You can fly single prop engines, twin prop engines, planes with more prop engines, jet aircrafts, fighter jets, anything that you build in the plane maker, and even the Space Shuttle.

If you have a gaming computer (Mac or PC) then this sim will look and handle (not the controls, more along the lines of frame rate and maybe loading time) even better for you. As it goes for this Flight sim and others. The better your computer, the more appealing this Sim will be to your eyes. Now, just like FSX, you can find things to make the sim's environment look better and better looking aircrafts by looking online at x-plane.org. There is freeware (lots of it; aircrafts, scenery, etc) and payware (not as much as freeware but it has things in all of the same catigories). Of course, payware has better quality, but it is very easy to find good quality aircrafts and scenery. All of it is made by people like you and me. Though the more realistic planes (not including the ones that are already in x-plane9) are made by the people who use alot of technical stuff. And yes I dont know much about x-plane (still, I know, since I have been away from the sim for almost a year because I couldnt find the disc) so sorry if I dont use the proper terms.

X-plane V9, just like all the other x-plane sims, are (all versons except for verson 9 [duh] are done with the updates} a work in progress. Meaning that there will be bugs, but unlike some programs that are works in progress (Im not going to name them here), x-plane's versons get more stable as the updates to that verson continues to roll out. The current verson is of course 9. With the latest updated to it making it look like this:
X-Plane V9.6rc2 (.6rc2 being the latest non beta update to verson 9)
I believe this is one of the last updates that will be made, though 9.61 is on its way... They are already prepairing to release X-plane10, which is due for release some time next year (most likely fall or winter).

My overall thought on x-plane 9 is that it is alot of fun, 9.6rc2 is very stable. Though verson 9 itself is also very stable too. Why rating 9.5? simple really, its alot of fun, it is very realistic, and it is easy to use. This would have gotten a perfect 10 from me if all of aircrafts that came with the game had fully 3D cockpits, but sadly they didnt, but then again this game is pretty big, I guess it simply didnt have the room.
