Even at EA, sometimes, bad games get created.
The game is a third person shooter, and you have the assistance of three members (the X-Squad of the title); you can command them specific orders (basically stay put, take cover, attack, follow: don't expect your comrades to be some kind of Noble Prize winners, anyway, since they don't know the meaning of the words "take cover", and it seems they like to be targets for flying bullets) and you can equip them with the weapons and items you can buy before starting every level.
Gameplay is frustrating and irritating: it's basically peeking around the corners and waiting for the right time to attack, which means shooting when enemies don't see you; the auto aiming system is supposed to make things easier, but you'll soon notice that it's so inaccurate and slow to prefer a manual aiming option; unfortunately, this option is not available!
Graphics are only decent as for main characters, but environments are basic and plain and it's easy to get lost because they're very similar each other, I had forgotten the stage where I was playing the evening before, and it happened for every stage; it's obvious the PS2 hardware potential was still unknown.
In-game music is terribly annoying in its anonymity and attempt to create an action atmosphere; as for dialogues, they seem to have been written by some kids ("Let's go!" or "Understood-Roger" are very frequent responses).
Levels are pretty long, although they're just (or fortunately?!) nine, and challenging, even at the easy level of difficulty; at the end of every stage you'll have to beat some though bosses to proceed, but since they can be so frustratingly harsh, and since you can save your progress only at the end of every levels (checkpoints are available), you'll probably loose the will and patience to finish this terrible game.
