Worth playing for the story and cutscenes.

Xenogears is a very interesting and unique RPG. This is mostly because of the story rather than the gameplay. The storyline interesting in the way it deals with religion. Even though I have played RPG's that have had a plot that deals with religion, I have never seen it handled as well as in Xenogears. The storyline is the best thing about this game. The cutscenes are also very well done. They have an anime style and are beautiful to watch. The main problem I had with this was the battle system. It's very dull and battles are just too frequent. I did like how you eventually got to use mechs during battles. I must say the soundtrack is quite good in it's own right. I own the soundtrack and listen to it all the time. I think Xenogears is indeed a game worth playing, but more for the storyline and music than the actual gameplay. Which just isn't very good.
