Very fun game for wide screens.

I got this game a little over a year ago because I wanted something for my PS2 that would be an intense game to play on my new (at the time) 55inch rear projection. This game lived up to everything I was looking for. The good: 1) Sound track: Good soundtrack for this game. Fast paced music. 2) Gameplay: Learning curve is not long in this game just ten minutes should do you fine. The game plays well with only a few minor issues. Bikes handle well. 3) Intensity: It's there. This is definatly a game worth playing if you want some good tracks and fast paced racing. Also this game is great for multiplayer in house racing. The bad: 1) Storyline: There is no real story here worth mentioning. This is not a game designed for a rich story but why developers don't spend 20 minutes throwing in some decent story is beyond me. 2) Graphics: Average graphics at best. The into scenes to the race tracks are quite nice and above the cut for games of it's time (summer 2003) but once you get on the track the graphics are not as impressive. 3) Sound: Other than a good soundtrack the game's sound is a let down. There seems to be little sound to the game other than the noise you get when you collect a power up and the bikes. Oh, and the very limited dialog between racers. 4) Repitition: They could have changed the voice overs to the tracks when you have to race on them again. I don't need nor want to hear the same voice describing to me the same track 5 or 6 times. The Ugly: 1) There are parts of a couple tracks that no human being I know can navigate smoothly without hitting the edges of the track repeatedly. They are very small areas of the tracks and they cause you little pause in the game once you learn to manage them and the races in general. However, seeing the NPC's fly through them is pretty disheartening. But this is the closest thing to a bug I found in this game so maybe it's not all that ugly. Overall: Game was VERY fun to play especially on the big screen. For $20 the game was well worth it. However for more than that I don't know if I could go thumbs up.
