A cool but partially flawed shooter where the player finds the character's identity through comic-book like levels.
I wanted this game as it first released, but forgot about it in the midst of several addicting computer games. Buying it when it was cheap, I was happy with Thirteen.
I would first like to congradulate Ubisoft on a great year. Although I don't really like Prince of Persia or Splinter Cell, they are both very good games and I am really looking foreward to Ubisoft taking some risks like this game and releasing a diffrent kind of FPS.
Now, to XIII.
The graphics are cool and smooth. The nice cell shaded style made everything vibrant, yet easy to tell apart. Diffirent enviroments really helped the game. Kept things coming.
The sound was good enough. Great ambient music that I didn't mind hearing while killing people. The guns sounds are dead on and the voice acting was some of the best.
The value however is where the game is put back. Partially long single player that is not worth going through twice, and multiplayer seemed too laggy and choppy for the player to really show and skills.
A couple of noteworthy things in XIII are the smooth single person graphics, bloody execution cutscenes, and voice talent. The weapons are just average and the story only a little about that.
Anyway, if you want to play a unique shooter with one path to the end and not many diffirent ways to play, then buy this game, but if you dont want to fork out the ten dollars, then I would suggest at least renting it.
