A good rental

Gameplay: This game has a built-in gyro-censor that allows you to tilt the world. This allows you to spin ferris wheels, unroll rolled-up grass to form a bridge, and many other things. You can even walk up walls! Although this sounds amazing, sometimes it's really hard to control. An example is when Yoshi turns into a boat sometimes, and you have to tilt the system to make waves, it's really difficult to do. One complaint that I have with this game is that it doesn't have alot of boss battles. There's a boss battle after the third world, which isn't really a boss battle since you're just trying to get to the end of the level while avoiding fireballs, and then there's a boss battle at the end of the game. It would have been nice to see more boss battles that utilized the gyro-censor more. (e.g. a giant robot that you have to tilt the system to walk up him so you can attack his weak spot on his head). Instead, you just get this boss battle where you have to tilt bombs so that they land on Bowser. Not very original. However, as a game, this is still pretty fun. At the start of each level, you are given a mission (sometimes 2), and if you complete them, you are awarded a happiness medal. In order to move on to the next world, you need to have acquired a certain number of these medals, so while you could technically just rush through every level in a world, you won't be able to move onto the next world unless you have the required amount of medals. Graphics: The graphics in this game are pretty good for the Gameboy Advance. All of the characters have a "clay" nature to them, where they all look like they were constructed out of clay. This makes for some innovative visuals. However, the backgrounds and environments are a different story. They don't really have alot of detail put into them, and they look to plain and ordinary. However, overall, the visuals in this game are good and easy to look at. Sound: The sound in this game is good. I thought that the music at some parts in the game was extremely good, especially the final boss battle. However, at other times in the game, the music isn't so good, and you'll wonder why they didn't just use one of the better soundtracks for those levels. Also, there is some slight voice acting in this game, although they don't say any words. You will hear Yoshi do his "Yoshi cry" thing whenever he jumps. Also, sometimes when characters are talking, you'll hear them giggling, and their voice matches the characters pretty well. Overall, the music in this game is good, but is held back by some less-than-average soundtracks at certain parts. Value: This is one of the bad things about the game. This is by no means a long game. You should be able to fly by it in 3-5 hours. However, the game doesn't leave you at just that: there are unlockables as well. For example, when I beat the game, I unlocked this other section called Bonus Games. There were 5 slots, but I had only unlocked 1 of those slots, which was called Shuffle Mode. In this mode, you have to do random missions in a random order, and you try to get a high score. It's pretty fun, and adds some more value to the game. How you unlock the remaining four slots is a mystery to me, but I think it's got something to do with finding all of the happiness medals. However, some of the happiness medals are so hard to get a Gold rank on that you'll most likely just give up before ever unlocking all of the Bonus Games. This game will keep you entertained for a few hours, but then you'll just move on to another game instead of continuing to unlock things in this game. Tilt: Overall, this game makes for an excellent rental. Rent this game, and play it for an afternoon to beat it. However, there's not really a whole lot of depth to the game, so you'll most likely play it for a day or two and beat it before returning it to the rental store. I'd say to definatly not buy this game, because you can see just about everything that the game has to offer in a rental. It's a fun game that's fairly innovative and brings a new twist to the platformer genre, but it's gameplay flaws and it's lack of depth really hurt it, making it only subpar compared to other games that are available for the Gameboy Advance.
