Ys series been around for awhile now, since the late 80's (1987) It's unique combat formula then (Bumping into enemies) was something very different, alot may of thought annoying, but it worked! For years the game itself has been revised and reformed. Ys The Oath in Felghana takes Adol and his new found friend Dogi, from the previous Ys 1 and 2 to Dogi's hometown Redmount. Back in its original Release Ys III, This was a side scrolling game similar to Legend of Zelda II For the NES, Alot of fan favorites despised this adaption of the series, which in my mind suggests why they rebooted more or less, the third installment of the game to this version.
Here you play as Adol, at Redmount, you find that the villagers are being oppressed and that you will have to do various things to free the village, and find out the truth behind the whole ordeal.
The Battle system is not the usual bump n play. You control Adol and his attacks this time. you have power ups you can pick up along the way after defeating enemies, you have an armor system/weapon system as well such as previous games. You can upgrade Adol throughout the game and even change his appearance based on the complete sets of armor you've obtained.
Music and sound in this game is just simply amazing. The soundtracks that you hear on each level or environment sync to the surrounding area almost perfectly, from the bottom of the mines to the underbelly of the beast to which you must slay. The sound track will leave your heart racing.
The game features a Boss Rush mode, and different difficulty modes to play through. A few changes on some replays depending on how you perform on certain levels, but all in all its mostly the same game. If you like new challenges and have no problem playing through knowing the story already, this isn't an issue.
Graphics for the game is pretty good, amazing effects, and seem well played out for the design. The Colors mesh together well and nothing seems choppy or poorly designed.
If you are a fan of the Zelda Series, this game here will capture your heart as it did mine. If your new to these, I strongly suggest this game to start out with.
