As a fan of the series, and having played several Yu-Gi-Oh games already, I decided to pick this game up to see if it was any better than the other Yu-Gi-Oh games around. To my disappointment, I can say it isn't. The game does not use the official Yu-Gi-Oh rules, and gameplay and sound are all not what you'd expect of a real good Yu-Gi-Oh game. You start off with a deck solely built up from low level cards, and you can obtain better cards by defeating the different opponents. However, this is a tedious job, as you only get one card at a time for beating a duelist. On top of that, the AI is not very intelligent, and can be beaten quite easily if you know what you're doing. The songs are repetitive and all quite similar, but do not really become annoying. And you can always switch the sound off...
What annoyed me most, were the rules that were simply made-up in this game. Lots of cards do not have their official use, and instead of a 5-space Magic/Trap zone there is only 1 spot to activate Magic and Traps. Even worse, lots of Magic and Traps are not even in the game, and the ones that ARE actually in it are mostly useless. Worst of all, this game uses a weakness-system. Thunder beats Water, Water beats Fire, Fire beats Forest and so on. This means that a 100ATK monster can destroy a 2000ATK monster. Kuriboh beats the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Yeah, right. To make a long story short: only buy this if you're a real fan of the series and do not mind a little altered rules. Despite it's many cons, the game can still be worth playing if you like to collect cards and want to experience Yu-Gi-Oh in a different way for once.
