The second installation of the zelda series on the NES for VC is a grand slam!
The gameplay, similarly to the first zelda combines gameplay simplicity with enjoyment. E.G, to beat shield baddies, you must duck and stand in order to attack or block. This, to be honest, is more fun than it sounds. The difficulty makes me think that Nintendo again, believed that this would be too hard for players in Europe. This is just what happened with super Mario bros 2. As a result of this, it is the easiest game in the series. I managed to complete it without a walkthrough. The difficulty is not too hard and not too easy.
Secondly, the graphics are incredibly clean. The background designs also actually make me believe that I am in a dungeon this time. Link looks like Link this time, too (unlike young Link in zelda 1 that looks like an elf). On the other hand, I'm not too keen on the animations of the enemies etc. How the characters move is quite...bland, except for Link's great movement animations. ^_^
Finally, when this game debuted on the GBA, it was £20! Yeah, like i'll pay that much for a NES game (!) However, when it came out on the VC it was 500 points! This is less than £5 equivalent! Well worth the points!
Bottom line. Zelda is an excellent game that I mostly recommend for beginners to zelda games. Again, WELL DONE, NINTENDO!
