No guts, no glory.
The amount of weaponry is great. From the basic gun, the chain saw, the rocket launcher, and my personal favorite, the flame thrower; you couldn't ask for a better array of weapons unless they were to be given a nuke that could beat a map and just cost you a life.
The maps were great. Each environment was unique and I loved each of them. I loved each of them the first 2-4 times that is, but they became very repetitive later on. If I am playing 55 days, 7 maps isn't enough. This isn't a game breaker, and is really a minor thing, but it could have been better thought out.
The game play is a lot of fun for the most part. I really enjoyed the array of weapons, the locals, and the different types of zombies. What I didn't enjoy was it being such a long game with basically the same amount of things coming at me at once. I would have liked the game to get harder quicker, and to stay that way for less time. Basically, I think a month of days would have been sufficient, adding in more bosses, different types of bosses, and just crazier amounts of baddies. The 7 Days of Hell unlockable is great like this; I want it with more of a mix of baddies, and less waves; I just want chaos.
The boss fights were enjoyable to an extent, though toward the end they became more of a "Die, Continue" type thing rather than a strategic one. Basically, their motto is throw tons of stuff that clouds the screen, add lots of instant death traps, and then a boss with tons of health. While this was fine, and is a typical design in lots of games, it was just confined to such a small location (because the boss doesn't move) that is became overwhelming to the point that I just shot the boss, died, and re-spawned (this is only the last boss, the others weren't like this).
I tried to use some strategy, such as throwing a bear out and picking up a chain gun, but it wasn't entirely helpful most of the time.
Confined places + tons of mobs + weapons elsewhere = long end boss, and basically boring.
I believe that this is a great game; it's not revolutionary, redefining, or a perfect 10, but I think it delivered on the 10 bucks it cost easily. The developers have a winner, and with more fine tuning could easily have a monster on their hands in future versions. I will play this game for a long time. I can see it being a great party game and entertaining us for quite some time.
