Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the SNES is a decent tribute to all that is horribly creepy and disfigured.
In Zombies, the player takes control of Julia or Zeke, or in the case of a two player game, both, as they try and rescue the people of the neighborhood as well as other settings, such as pyramids.
To get from one level to the next, the player must rescue at least one of the ten people in the level. After rescuing one person, the player can step into the gate and be taken to the next level. If the player loses all of their lives or all of the people are killed, then the game is over. The game features 48 levels, plus bonus stages. Of the 48 stages, the player travels through the suburbs, the pyramids, and commercial malls.
The game is chock full of popular horror movie and book references, such as the level 'Nightmare on Terror Street' and 'Where the Red Fern Growls.'
Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a fairly decent game that is worth playing just to have the experience of playing a huge parody of horror movies.
