Batman: Arkham Knight announced for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and you'll be able to drive the Batmobile

[UPDATE] It's official! Game Informer has confirmed that Batman: Arkham Knight will be its main story for its April issue, and has revealed slightly more about the game. Arkham Knight takes place in a much larger Gotham city, with wider streets to allow the Batmobile to be properly integrated. Penguin, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn will also feature alongside Scarecrow.

"We kind of feel like this is the natural end to the story," says Rocksteady co-founder Sefton Hill in an interview. "We want to kind of go out in style."

UK retailer Game has listed Batman: Arkham Knight for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with the item's description featuring details about the game and box art.

Batman: Arkham Knight is described as the "explosive finale" to the Arkham series in the (now removed, but spotted by VideoGamer) product listing, and says players will be able to drive the Batmobile around the streets of Gotham. The Batmobile.

It is also said that Scarecrow will feature, and reunite the series' villains. Probably with the collective aim of trying to ruin everything for Batman, at a guess.

A 2014 release date is shown.

Rocksteady, the UK developer behind Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, is shown as the game's developer.

@ PC Elitists: Shut your trap and take your filth elsewhere. "PC best, PC that" oh stop it ! I been a PC gamer for 20 years and I know how ridiculously expensive PC gaming is. Oh and not to mention how BUGGY PC gaming is. Thief (2014) on the PC any one ? Full of bugs and performance issues. Both next gen systems run that game amazingly well and with beautiful graphics. So quit being such morons and learn to appreciate gaming as a whole.

Personally, I can't wait for this game. I loved all the Arkham games, yes, including Origins and I am a HUGE fan of Batman. Bring it on Rocksteady and thank you for working on this IP.

I wonder if this is a sequel to arkham city, or origins in the story line. Regardless I find myself a bit relieved it's the finally of this series. I hate to see a good franchise milked to death, and it's borderline for this one.

<< LINK REMOVED >> They aren't looking to evolve the series, they are ending it! So it should be ended on the same platform it started. I'm not opposed to the continuation or a new Batman series. But if it's a so called finale, it should be available to the fans that played the rest of the series.

A lot of their fanbase will be playing the game either on PC or on the 8th gen consoles they bought. It's certainly a shame for those that couldn't afford, or don't want to buy, either a new console or a gaming PC, but that's gaming, it moves forward.

I hope this also gets a release on PS3 and Xbox 360. Since it's considered a trilogy, it would make no sense for it to be unavailable for fans of the previous games since they haven't gotten either of the new consoles.

<< LINK REMOVED >> piracy rates on the PC are going to sky rocket compared to the last three games. releasing a AAA title for next gen only/windows even though next gen consoles haven't been out for even a year yet? Not sure what Warner Bros was thinking...but they must have had a hell of bribe by sony and MS to counter those lost sales.

And yes, I am fully aware piracy exists on ALL consoles, but the prevalence and easiness of pc pirating with no risks involved makes it an especially popular choice. no one is going to go buy a new console JUST for this game when they can simply pirate it on the pc. but many of them would gladly play for it if it were offered on current gen consoles

They probably could do open world Gotham Batman but it wouldn't be Arkham anymore. It would be more like Batman & Robin for PS1.

@canuckbiker So how do open-world games like GTA V do it, then? That game has a massive map that you can drive all over and it's on "outdated" consoles, not to mention the very impressive graphics.

If this truly is the "finale" of the Arkham series, you gotta think they are going to pull out all the stops. I cant imagine this game being anything but great. Even better that it sounds like its coming out this year....prolly October....if i had to guess.
