Big in Japan: Xbox 360 outsells PS3

Yeah, Sony stopped shipping out the PS3 to retailers. Now that the price went down and FF13 is coming out in Winter in Japan, it's gonna be epic PS3 slim sales. The FF13 demo alone pushed the PS3 to #1 when it came out.

Here is why the 360 outsold the PS3 in Japan last week # 1. 360 Arcades, which had been sold out for weeks, suddenly became available in the shops again # 2. Sony stopped supplying the PS3 phat, so PS3 supplies have dried up in a lot of shops. # 3. Japanese retailers have still not cut the price of the PS3 phat to the new 29,980 Yen price which the PS3 Slim will be selling it. Consumers are not prepred to pay 39,000 Yen for a PS3 phat today, when they can pay only 29,980 Yen for a PS3 Slim in the week of September 3. In view of the above, the 360 will probably outsell the PS3 again next week too, untill the week of September 3 when the PS3 Slim is launched. After the PS3 Slim is launched on September 3, expect the PS3 to start outselling the Wii regularly in most weekly sales charts, because the price gap between the Wii and the PS3 is now less than 5,000 Yen.

People are waiting for the PS3 Slim,of course there is decrease of sales.

Duh-WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH? What is this, the Twilight Zone? I love my 360, but that is extremely strange that it would outsell any native Japanese console.

Not going to be people that dont have a console at all thats for sure because they would of gotten something by now this gen. Wont be people already with a ps3. It will be the people that own the 360 that will buy a ps3. So you say microsoft and its fanboys will lose. Well guess what its going to be microsofts customers that will buy a ps3. Like me for example ive already pre ordered my slim and i have a 360. Does not mean my 360 is going back in the box because i still play tons of online on it like cod waw and i preordered COD MW 2 for my 360 and not for the ps3. PS3 will be a blu ray player and to play a couple of exclusives like GOW 3 MGS 4 LBP and ill probably get ff13 for it. In the end it will be the microsoft owners and wii owners that will be buying a ps3 now.

Hate to tell Microsoft this but people were expecting a price drop so they were waiting for it. Judging by what i'm hearing and seeing now PS3 will be outselling Xbox360 everywhere for a while.

i have a simple explanation, they are waiting for the recently announced slim ps3.

Even with the price cut, Sony will likely remain third. Another 360 price cut would make the PS3 the most expensive console again, and even if the 360 (pro) remained $300, Sony has waaay to much ground to cover.

Out, nearly sold double of what the PS3 did. Even with the stock cuts it isn't like the PS3 has been pulling in huge numbers week after week and stock just dried up either.... You know things aren't good with Sony when the 360 outsells them in Japan.

I don't know why you guys shoot the messenger.. if you look at the news sidebar there is plenty of positive Sony news there. Gamespot is just reporting the info as it happens.. Fanbois need to get over themselves.

the PS2 is hurting the PS3 in sales...

I think part of the reason the 360 outsold the PS3 was because Sony STOPPED SHIPPING PS3S FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS TO DEPLETE STOCK. They are sold out all over Japan, presumably to make room for the PS3 Slim. Move along people, nothing to see here.

And next week ps3 will sell way better with its price drop and the slim release.

we'll see, after this holiday season a new champ will emerge to it's rightful place as number 1.

I'd say Sony is destined for 3rd place this time around. And that comes from a PS3 owner!

This is hardly even news. Wasn't Sony cleaning out inventory of the fat PS3's at this time? Although DQ9 jumping back up is interesting because the biggest SE titles usually have a massive first week, a much smaller but still large second week, and then a slow decline in the next several weekly sales.

Nintendo still looks like it's got a stranglehold on the actual consoles sold. The Wii outsells both the 360, PS3, and PS2 combined, and then the DSi + DS Lite is roughly double that again. Crazy.
