Acclaimed shooter series may be set for re-release on PS4, Xbox One.

A South African retailer has indicated 2K Games plans to re-release the BioShock series for current consoles.

Raru, an online outlet that also previously leaked the Greninja, Jigglypuff, and Splatooon Amiibo, has listed The BioShock Collection for release on November 27 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

As of yet, 2K Games has not officially announced the title or indicated any intention to re-release the games through teases. GameSpot has contacted the publisher for a statement.

The fate of BioShock has been unclear since February 2014, when Irrational Games, developer of the BioShock series, was effectively shut down.

Cofounder Ken Levine, meanwhile, revealed he's starting a new endeavour for Irrational Games owner Take-Two Interactive.

"I am winding down Irrational Games as you know it," Levine said at the time. "I’ll be starting a smaller, more entrepreneurial endeavour at Take-Two."

Although details on the project have not yet been revealed, Levine has said it will run on Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4.

Narrative is a key focus of the project, and Levine has expressed his love of how Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor offers a flexible narrative.

"Two years ago, I started thinking about how to build a system to let story be as variable as gameplay and still be awesome in the way story can be awesome," he has said in statements discussing the new project.

"Could you have characters, conflicts, and dialogue that could end not in 100 states, not in 1,000, but in X to the Y states? Goodbye linear, hello geometric!"

He continued: "And that's the new big thing that my colleagues and I have been working on at our yet-unnamed new studio. In March, I gave a talk at the Game Developers Conference about some of our ideas. We called it 'Narrative Legos.' The goal is to make a flexible narrative that is broadly replayable and strongly adaptive to player choice."

Is a man not entitled to a re-release of a classic?

"No," says Nintendo, "Just buy the original."

"No," says Square Enix, "FF7 won't be out for a while."

"No," says Sega, "We have to keep our heads above the water."

There are no killer-apps or genre-definers. Only a BioShock collection release.

Hope so, this is one of a few franchises I still want remastered for new gen that hasn't already been done or announced along with mass effect, and dead space.......and I hope the rest of the gears of war series gets that same treatment the ultimate edition did, damn that game is beautiful. Shit even if it's just a basic remaster I'll till buy this because I already 100% all 3 bioshocks on 360 so it'll give me a reason to play those great games again.

Day one customer too.. haven't played any of the Bioshock games and would love to...but hope it's the 3 games (bioshock 1, 2, and 3) and not a collection like they did with Borderlands (Only B2 + Presequel)

@jcv1811:

Man, even if this turns out to be false, I would highly recommend you pick it up even if it means snagging a used last-gen system to play it (or PC copy.) So worth it.

Yes! I hope so. Hopefully all DLC is added too. If it was the trio with all DLC, and 1080p/60fps, with perhaps updated visuals (at least to match PC) and then the original (even though I am still okay with it) having more modern controls, I'd get it at full price. I bought all Bioshock's on all systems already, except for the original on iPad, and two on 360. Unfortunately my PC can't handle Infinite, which would be the game that benefits most.

This generation might last longer than expected since most of the early part of this generation is creating retro games, remasters. The relatively weak hardware is perfect for these.

@Zzshock: Hope it lasts really long, so the consoles can hold PC gaming back for as long as possible. Hearing the groans from the Mustard Racers is hilarious.

bioshock was good. I'm not sure it's the kind of game you want to replay. On the other hand, Dishonored is very similar and is fun to replay

Meh. I was never 'super' impressed with Bioshock...

I mean it was decently fun and all, but nothing that was so mind-blowing about the story or gameplay that would truly earn it the praise it consistently gets.

I'd have given it a 7 out of 10. Just above average, but certainly worth playing.

It will make a nice addition to my Disc Collection once it drops to 20-ish bucks used at Gamestop. lol

@criticalerror: lol no, go **** yourself. I'm entitled to my opinion.

Furthermore, not losing my mind over a game that I still found enjoyable doesn't make me a 'useless retard'. Nor does it make me 'clueless' just because I didn't think the game was perfect.

Ironic that you are 'fed up with retards and clueless idiots' yet you are spouting nonsense like this at me for only enjoying the game enough to buy it at a discount.

Yet, I'm the "hater". lol

I wouldn't mind taking a trip down memory lane in Rapture and Columbia one more time. Probably will include all the bonus content too.

Hmm I've never played the series when it first came out, so if I can get all the games at a good price, I might consider buying it.

@Molokai16: There's no need. It just depends on how they're remastered, because otherwise, the PC already has the remastered versions.

@NTM23: True, but the original game is still a bit clunky. It only got 1 patch, aim sensivity is little off, and for some reason works better with V-sync on, which I'd rather have it off. A remastered version for PC would still be very welcomed none the less. I for one would buy it again, plus have a few friends that would finaly get into it aswell as the game would look better and play better. The age of it is already showing - still a great looking game. It certainly wouldnt hurt having upgraded resolution, textures, lighting, audio, FOV slider, etc., etc..

@Molokai16: Yes, but you're referring to a certain, substantial difference, where I think the remaster that's perhaps going to be on consoles isn't going to be a huge graphics overall, just on par with the PC versions. You're wishful thinking, which is fine, and yeah, it would be awesome if they overhauled it all, but I don't think that's what this'll be. Oh, and I like your avatar. Republic Commando is awesome; still play it every so often, though I've only finished it twice, and that was when it came out.

@Molokai16: I would happily buy the first two games again on PC if Bioshock1 and 2 got an unreal engine update and BS1 got achievements.

##@playstationzone: Of course.. no company Is going to release a shoddy BC game, when they can potentially make more money by selling an actual working and debugged version. Even if this goes for $20, that's $20 more than want Phil wants to charge for other peoples content.

@jeffreybernabe: Right? That was very disappointing about Dishonored, I wouldn't want to see it here.

If you are going to bother re-mastering a game, I would think bumping it to 1080p and 60FPS would be the standard.

I was hoping for Bioshock franchise backwards compatibility on the Xbox One (because they are the few games I actually kept when selling my 360), but I would definitely buy them again.
