I think the game is awesome. The SP was indeed a little short but I played on Veteran and let me tell ya... It took a lot longer than 4 hours. If you can't tell that the engine has been beefed up then something is wrong with your eyes. The only thing that drags this game to the gutter is the IWNet service. Let's get real, this isn't how a FPS game should be played. Half the time Steam/IWNet is completely bugged out and you're spending majority of your free time watching a screen that says, "Waiting..." The lag spikes or constant lag in most games are super annoying as well, you're dying no matter what, so if you have 24/25 killstreak and you're going for that nuke and right at that moment (its happened to me twice) you lag out all over the screen and get knifed in the back, too bad... IWNet=FAIL! If games follow suit on this sort of service then you're "evolving" in the completely wrong direction. You could AT LEAST make the cloud of servers dedicated and have the match making system in place. Other than that... Great game, the day IW decided to release a Dedicated Server Pack VIA steam for MW2 is the day they would probably sell another 500,000 PC copies.

@ payne6705 you have no point whatsoever. Its a fast paced game. Just as you get spawned killed you kill at spawn. Don't blame your lack of skill in the game as a game fault. The noobtube is the only thing this game has that is bad. Is purely cheap and by all means a anger relief for noobs that can't shoot straight. As for the missile its fine. Shoot at the door to get them inside or search another target. It would be cheap if there was no way to protect yourself from a predator missile...

amazing what constant hype can do to a mediocre shooter.

@holypro i don't get something about the people who love to try to rain on modern warfare's success, they always sight the sales numbers it has, or say its " too " hyped. who gives a damn? it's still a fun game and has hours of value. if you don't like it, i have one simple recommendation.. DON'T BUY IT.

People like call of duty so much because its so incredibly easy to kill people. Which conversely makes it incredibly easy to be killed and thats what brings all the whiners. And of course at the same time we have all these people thinking they are all great at life because they get kills in CoD. Good game for the most part but not really my style anymore. That type of gameplay was fun say..back in the perfect dark days, but I think developers can do more. Don't get me wrong I think theres still a place for arcade bs action games and I guess CoD has taken that spot. But I feel as though there are a few too many like it.

I'm really getting annoyed by the excessive use of the word "milk" Many people ENJOY the Call of Duty series, particularly the IW games, so why complain? I mean really, MW was great, and MW2 was epic too, why complain? If you don't like it don't buy it. good example of series that have been running for a long time but are still amazing:MGS,Mario,Zelda,Halo... As long as the developer apparently puts a lot of time an effort into the game, DO NOT label them as milking, that's just ignorant. Congrats IW.

@ payne6705 so in other words... You're sick of dying when you spawn but also sick of being safe in a hut, you'd rather be able to spawn in a hut and be killed right after spawn some more? ... confused.

@Tony382 You have no flippin idea what you're talkin about... A lot of developers dont pay attention to as much detail as this product received. You probably have no idea how much work it takes throughout the whole process. You sound like a spoiled little elitest punk

If they CoD community was more accepting of different ideas (which I don't believe we are), I think the guys at IW can do some damage if they did a "Medieval Warfare" or something of that nature. I'm talking crossbows, long bows, daggers, ball n' chain, etc. But it won't happen. This franchise will stick with post-WWII. Vietnam-era would be great, as the Cold War is just World War 2.5.

I have to be honest the game isn't bad but its not even close to the hype IW only fixed less than half the issues the spawn system is quite possibly the worst thing in all gaming history I die when I respawn and when I respawn again I die I just don't understand the hype the game pushes no boundaries its too safe for me its a standard FPS with great graphics not more or less also I am sick of ppl being safe inside a hut made of wood when I use a missile where is BC2 at least their buildings topple when shot with a missile

I see comments about twilight here. Twilight doesn't seem like a bad plot, but in the end it is presented like the most generic love story ever. "Bella, I love you, but I cant be with you" Basically thats from one mythical creature to the next. First its vampires, then werewolves, in the next sequel, bella will probably be giving birth to baby frankenstein or something.

My Opinion. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a great game in its own right. I believe they have almost perfected the gameplay but ruined it a bit with certain weapons. Some weapons feel useless, some feel overpowering, others are all too similar. If I had to some up my views on the game I would say that the series has only refined the original modern warfare. That being said I feel like the game gave nothing new. The only new true excitement I have got out of this game was thru the all-too-short campaign. So basically, i hope that the next installment redefines a great FPS by setting the bar much higher. You spend 3/4 of the money on marketing what else would you expect? A highly marketed game with lacking elements in regards to improvements. I am at the very best... happily Disappointed.

@squidracerX You do realize that they are not saying that Modern Warfare 2 has sold 55 million units right? They are referring to the whole franchise since COD1 till now.

@dannyatkinson comparing a great FPS game to Twilight, eh? While I am unsure of the appeal of books/movies about adolescent vampires/werewolves with a lot of Dawson's Creek issues, I am sure of how captivating the Call of Duty series has been of late. It's hard to not call a game a fad, since each installment comes 1-2 years at a time. I think it would be safe to assume that for many forms of media, it can be called a fad if it's one and done.

its actually not the greatest selling game if you think about it in a way. cause now we have like 10x more gamers than before and still growing. so i expect there to be more games having sales records.

Undeserving game is undeserving. However, this shows that idiots will buy whatever they're told to.

ehhh.... i call a little fib on that, they would have to sell 45-50 million copies, that's more than 1 in 7 people in the USA... and i don't know how popular this is overseas so maybe it did, maybe China bought a billion copies. but i think its way bigger in the US/UK than elsewhere, (and it was on sale in the UK when it came out making more people buy it upfront), I also assume a game with preorder mania like this sold 10% of its lifetime sales copies as preorders. (This game had more preorders than any game ever), i dont see it doing constant big numbers like that first few days, that first week was probably its biggest. So Im sure it made well over a billion, I dunno, even with Xmas 45 million units sold seems much? Especially since most of those expensive night vision sets were sold to preorder freaks, not to Joe Average. But Im not a business man so what do I know.

@ VectrexFanBoy why its just retarded that this sells so freaking much yea its a good game but its better games the singel player is only 4-6 hours and the spec ops i 2-3 hours and an unbalanced multiplayer that random noobs can get cheep kill easy

why are this selling so much yes it is a very good game but if you want a good singel player game buy something like dragon age if you want a good multiplayer buy tf2 on pc
