Dark Souls II beta hits PS3 this fall

Namco Bandai confirms closed beta test for upcoming role-playing game scheduled to begin on October 5 in North America and Europe only on PlayStation Network.

Namco Bandai today announced that a closed beta for Dark Souls II will be available for PlayStation 3 gamers beginning October 5 in North America and Europe.

Details about how to register for the Dark Souls II beta will be shared through the official Dark Souls Facebook page starting on September 5.

The Dark Souls II beta will "test players' skill, intestinal fortitude, and their sheer will to survive," according to Namco Bandai. It will feature the "most treacherous" areas of the Dark Souls II world, though Namco Bandai did not provide any specifics.

The Dark Souls II beta was not announced for the Xbox 360 or PC.

Dark Souls II will be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in March 2014. Versions for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U have not been announced.

Namco Bandai recently said that it will be going in "guns blazing" to market Dark Souls II.

GTA V is a good game, but can not even come close to the depths (she what I did there) and playability that Dark souls has.

I'm hoping I could get on this beta, but with them saying it features some of the most treacherous areas in the game I may come to regret it...should still be awesome though. :D

Dark Souls is like a poem, the more you re-read it the more you get out of it, that was my favorite thing about the game, the gameplay was great and all that but the minimalistic but profound story was what i loved.

i really hope the next game continues that trend of not being a story but rather a poem

@talamalopilis Totally man, I love that the understanding we get of the world is given through cryptic dialogues with characters and item descriptions. The profound sense of mystery is one I haven't really experience in a while, maybe since Myst :P

Clicked on your profile to see what was in your picture-thingee (turns out it's an infant).... saw you like Fate/Stay Night. If you haven't see it: check out Fate/Zero. It's super-badass. Stay Night is the next thing i'm watching... but as of right now Fate/Zero is my fav.... check it out NOW if you haven't seen it.

(any anime fans that enjoy that stuff that doesn't feature a 13-year-old protagonist should check it out.....)

I had so much fun jumping from the front of Sens Fortress and walking around down in the black unmapped area, and jumping out of the map from either side between Anor Londo and Duke's Archives. I would love to test out-of-map areas and physical boundaries in the new beta.

dark souls is a good game but its rediculously hard.. you can get 9 hours into the campaign just to realize that the skills path you chose is the wrong one and you can not possibly advance any further

errr..RUBISH!

I myself finished the game 7 times, one character I played too N+++++ (lvl 568 now)

I finished the game with one character at level 30, my friend played the whole game to the end at level 1. So what do you mean wrong built?

This game is hard (thanks you so much From software!!), takes patience, die and try again, SKILL!

I can finish this game with any built, but not at first, you have to really play it to get better son.

I dunno.... I've played a LOT of builds in Dark Souls and never really found that I couldn't complete the game with any one of them..... PVP you might have some builds that work better than others... but even there I never Min/Max or anything.... i always have what a lot of people would consider to be "wasted stat points" yet I hold my own in PVP... little things like using Resins to boost your weapon stats like 100 points will make up for a lot of "wasted stat points."

@SpinDie25 dark souls is a game that tests your skills like no other and is really demanding. if you want to finish a game in 9 hours dark souls simply isn't your game.

wooo speaking of demon soul it was empty game ..when i played the world is small and a little special monsters ...gg it was bad

Agreed. I'm not going near this with a 20-foot pole. I even wish I had had the resolve and fortitude (funny things to be lacking when speaking of Dark Souls...) to not watch any of the existing gameplay vids... I don't want to know anything.

I'm glad the beta is coming out, but there's no way I wanna play the "most treacherous" area of Dark Souls II before I have the full game in my hands. I hope people enjoy it and I hope they help Namco Bandai to finalize it all and release a worthy sequel to what has become my favorite video game, period.

This is perhaps the only game I would want to play a demo or beta for. But at the same time I don't want anything spoiled. It looks like a double edged sword. I won't ever open a Facebook page, even for this.
