Dark Souls II beta hits PS3 this fall

@emvv If you like challenge yes. If you just like fast paced combat then they probably aren't games for you.

@emvv Dark Souls is by far one of the most well crafted gaming experiences in existence. Play it!!! It is time consuming. I have several hundred hours logged, and could still go back and keep playing.

@emvv I'd say yes. It seems you are into a challenge, and the gothic/horror motif, so it's worth a try for sure. The Souls games are phenomenally developed, offering a mix of challenge with success. If you died, it's your fault. When you triumph, it's your victory. I never thought it was as hard as they advertise, but mostly because I'm kind of like you, looking for and expecting challenges...they have to make sure to shout it out loud, otherwise casual gamers that pick it up won't know what hit them. Dark Souls was my favorite game the year it came out, and one of my favorites of all time. Sprinkle in VAST amounts of gear, skills, monsters, and secrets in an open, interconnected world and you have a game that sucks you in relentlessly, offering untold amounts of replayability. It won't be as fast as DMC, with the actions being very deliberate, but the thrill is just as intense.

I actually liken it to a modern take on Castlevania, offering equal parts gothic/medieval mystery and exploration, loot and leveling, if that helps at all too.

@emvv You might find Dark Souls a bit slow and possibly even easy if you're playing at that kind of level in DMC. You have to play very carefully and defensively in Dark Souls.

That said it's an incredible game that everyone should play.

@emvv If you are really into RPGs with super high replayability, then you will love it. I've probably put 500 hours into it and i still get urges.

@Nathalmighty1 The best way to play it is going in blind. I played Dark Souls without knowing a thing about and I can still remember how maddening the Catacombs skeletons were!
