This version of the game, which includes both the original Diablo III and its recent expansion Reaper of Souls, had only previously been confirmed for a PS4 release. Xbox One and PS4 versions are expected to retail for $59.99, whereas Xbox 360 and PS3 will carry a more modest $39.99 price tag.

New in the Ultimate Evil Edition is an Apprentice mode that boosts the power of low-level players so they can play co-op alongside their high-level buddies, and a new in-game mail system that allows you to share loot with those on your friends list.

Blizzard adds that preorders and launch day copies of the game will come with the Infernal Pauldrons in-game item, which can be worn at level 1 and gives bonuses to health, life regeneration, and cooldown reduction. The pauldrons will not be able to transfer across platforms, however, but they can be transmogrified. So there's that, at least.

Those who own the previous console edition of Diablo III, for either Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, will be able to keep their characters in this new edition. PS3 characters can also be transferred to PS4, and Xbox 360 characters can make the jump to Xbox One.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls was released for PC and Mac back in March and, for the most part, has been favourably received by the community. You can read what GameSpot's own Carolyn Petit made of the expansion in her review.

After the PC version got loot 2.0 and expansion, that version was better. Now, with this new console version, who knows? The 360 version was hacked to hell and back. People walking around with rings that made put you in God mode and such.

@bdrtfm @billzihang... and they like to tell us hacking and such nasty stuff is all on PC. Huh: what a surprise it would be to learn that it probably breaks even across all platforms.


I actually only have the PC version-- but I wish I could have the gamepad control mode.

Having spent THOUSANDS of hours playing D3 (PC)... I almost want to get the PS4 edition so I can spend just another 30 hours with the game and finally have a MAXED Character, instead of spending another 1000+ hours to find 1 or 2 more slight upgrades for my PC character.

He has a point. Although, throughout history, it is not uncommon for new systems to see next gen upgrades for older games. The first being the Atari 5200 which pretty much got all the 2600's major hits. And the 7800 that came after that got a lot too. Not sequels, but rereleases with a fresh coat of paint.

I bought the game for about 60 dollars for the 360... And now I'll have to purchase it for 60 dollars again for the Xbox One?


I might like the game, but definitely not so much to have essentially pay 60 dollars for just the expansion on a newer console. It'd be nice if they made a purchase verification program and gave you a discount... Though I suspect that would be near impossible to implement with used games or shared games putting a curve ball into all of that.

I have full game on PC and have level capped and "semi-geared" a witch doctor and a wizard. I will still probably get the PS4 version so I can play this with other friends. Also not having to be connected to the internet in order to play will be really nice too!

I know this probably won't happen but it would be nice if we could somehow port our PC characters to the console versions as well!
