Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is now available on consoles, bringing Diablo III to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for the first time and expanding the experience already available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. While many of the changes seen in Ultimate Evil Edition (which consists of Diablo III and the Reaper of Souls expansion) have already been available on PC for some time, this is in many ways a different game on consoles; as such, we've gathered up some of the first reviews for your below.

Among the biggest changes and additions in Reaper of Souls are the increased level cap (it's now 70), the Crusader class, Adventure mode (providing a much different way to play), and a fifth act (complete with new enemies, areas, and items). There's a huge amount of content here, and Blizzard has committed to releasing regular updates for the Xbox One and PS4 versions in the future.

Those who have played the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions have the option of transferring their progress to their choice of the Xbox One and PS4 versions. Both current-gen versions run at 1080p, thanks to the release of a patch for the Xbox One version that brings its resolution up to par with its PS4 counterpart.

Check out the first sampling of reviews below. For more, check out GameSpot sister site Metacritic.

  • Game: Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition

  • Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3
  • Release Date: August 19
  • Price: $59.99 (Xbox One, PS4); $39.99 (Xbox 360, PS3)

GameSpot -- 9/10

"Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition feels like the happy conclusion of a two-year public beta, with the initial purchasers on PC bearing much of the grief with the auction house and the slow pace to reach level 60. Those who have held off up to this point will benefit the most, while those who got a head start on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions will be able to transfer their saves to their new gen console of choice. It's just a shame that some newcomers won't appreciate what the early adopters went through to make the fantastic game it is today." [Full review]

Quarter to Three -- 5/5

"This latest release, glumly named the 'Ultimate Evil Edition,' for next-gen systems includes all the awesome stuff from Reaper of Souls that finally upgraded Diablo III from a game I really liked to a game I loved. Now it's here on the platform of choice for local gatherings and couch gamers, and it's even got a few lagniappes that the PC version doesn't get. New rewards for killstreaks, gifts to send along to your friends list, a nasty nemesis that dogs you and your friends just to remind you all that, hey, you're each still playing Diablo III even though it came out two years ago and this is probably your fiftieth time killing the skeleton king. That's the real magic of effective entertainment, executed so carefully, so precisely by the folks at Blizzard: familiarity that isn't stale." [Full review]

No Caption Provided

USGamer -- 5/5

"In many respects, D3 is unabashedly old-school, yet is imbued with enough modern niceties and oomph to compete with any contemporary game. Even though much of it feels straight out of the 90s, it's still thoroughly riveting. Whatever class you pick, and wherever you go, you'll have an endless parade of stuff to kill, and a variety of entertaining options to help you do the deed, whether you're casting crazy Witch Doctor swarms, or smashing through things with a Barbarian's heavy arsenal." [Full review]

Giant Bomb -- 4/5

"It's great with a group and fine if you're playing alone, but I'd still say that, if you're able, the PC version is the one to get unless you're specifically looking for a local co-op mode. Barring that, though, the console versions of Diablo III are well-built and adapted to a controller quite well, so at some point it becomes a matter of preference. If you're excited about the genre and love to smash enemies to watch a series of numbers go up as you collect better and better gear, this is a good way to fulfill those needs." [Full review]

The Escapist -- 4.5/5

"A fantastic dungeon-crawler that is still mercilessly addictive two years after the fact, Diablo III turns out to be a surprisingly good console fit. Most of the content will have been seen before if you have a prior version though, so don't feel pressured to rush out and get it." [Full review]

Official Xbox Magazine -- 8/10

"Ultimate Evil Edition is full of great ideas and wonderful refinements: it wants you to want to play it, and it makes itself as open as it can to doing so. For those that have played Diablo III to death and yearn to explore the fifth act, Ultimate Evil Edition is a no-brainer. The same unconditional recommendation applies to total newcomers, especially those with friends (or in a pinch, someone who will kindly press and hold the A button on a second controller from time to time). But if you're in the middle, a person with experience who's starting a new class, the early stages will be a cakewalk. Grind and bear it. Ride the hamster wheel. In the end, Diablo can take over your life. You don't even have to have a pre-existing tendency for dungeon crawlers to 'get' its appeal. Crank it up to the toughest setting you can and don't look back." [Full review]

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> In terms of total sales? Sure. But BOTH consoles are barely selling despite what the gaming media want you to think. I think PS4 (the current leader) only has like 10 million total, a fraction of what previous consoles were doing- and the previous consoles were a lot more expensive (when adjusted for inflation).

i may buy it down the road for a cheap price on my 360, but, is the game lengthy and well-developed for single-player only gamers?

and, can you hide all the clutter from the screen and turn off the casual dumbed-down help?

I'll be getting it this weekend. I love the game but I'm kinda pissed that you can't buy the expansion by itself. I already own the PS3 version and buying the whole game twice isn't appealing at all.

Never played Diablo I or II but just downloaded this game last night for Xbox One and got up to lvl 21 while having a blast with my friend. Great graphics and controls and seems to be well balanced. Going to gradually increase the difficulty as I get better. So far, seems like a game that will be very re-playable down the road.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Depending on your class you will have to read up on how to balance them out for higher difficulties, it can get hard. At max levels make sure you build up your resistances (usually around 1200 depending on the class) so you can just stand in pretty much anything :D

Great game and I'm glad you are having fun!

<< LINK REMOVED >>Did they patch in the RPG in the ARPG back? Are there now skill trees, skill points, etc? I played the beta with my wife, and was horrified at how dumbed down the features were compared to D2. BTW I'm honestly asking, I haven't so much as looked at D3 since then.

At the end of the day, I find little difference. Once a skill tree is done, it's the same as D3s system. Of course you can dump points to make a skill more powerful, but what happens when it bores you? In D3, if i get bored, I just change it up.

@Trev9421 currently playing through Titan Quest Immortal Throne and there is a bit on respect feature. TL2 had ts mod for it. There are plenty of ways around being stuck with a skill tree. That being said I get your point about it essentially being the same as a compete tree.

NOOOO!!! lol! I went to TL2 hoping for that D2 experience and (in my opinion...I know) it failed miserably. There is no other experience like D2 but D3 isn't half bad at trying at it, lol!

@Sefrix @EXxile It is still dumbed-down in that aspect. The rest of the game is fun though. It is definitely more action than RPG though. The fact there is no online auction house, the console version can be played offline and drop rates are better makes the game a lot better than it was or is on PC.

Warning........this game will suck you in and demand your attention. I've invested over 400 hours just on my crusader. My friends have played over 300.

My goal was to be able to complete rifts and bounties on T6. Once I was able to do T6 I did lose most motivation to play though.

I purchased the PS3 version and i definitely won't be buying the PS4/Xbox One version of this. I'm happy with it the way it is so what's the point handing over €70 for a game i already have? none, none at all.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Theres a lot more to it than regular D3. Obviously you havent read anything about the game because if you did you would have read there are a bunch of new things to do. Plus the next gen versions seem to have more enemies, bigger environments and the graphics are much better.... Im playing as a different character from what I had in regular D3 and it feels like a whole new game..

<< LINK REMOVED >> A smart choice, for now. The expansion comes with a new class, a new act, Adventure Mode (which is apparently pretty big and very enjoyable), and best of all it's updated to the current PC version and will have CONTINUED SUPPORT for the new gen. You might be happy now, but you'll be much happier with the new gen version. Of course, since you're happy now, you should probably wait for a price drop or something, but I do highly suggest purchasing this at some point

I played this when it came out on the PC. Does it have the problems that the PC version did with the constant gold spammers and shitty loot drops? I know that they patched lots of stuff, but is it worth getting into again or not? Asking about the PS4 version.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I would say definitely yes, RoS is infinitely better than the original, and the whole game was clearly designed ground-up to be a console game, it flows much better on a controller than on a keyboard imo. With adventure mode (grind mode basically, no faffing with storyline quests), rifts & closure of the AH, gold spamming is basically past, or at least is much more fun now. Also, with "smart loot" (main stat on items is guided by your class), a doubled base drop rate of legendaries + the new genuinely worthwhile lv70 crafts, it really is a much better game now and if you ever enjoyed it i would definitely give it a second try

But thats not all, the loot system is 100x better, it seems like the environments are bigger and theres definitely more enemies! I used the monk last gen on 360 and this time Im using the Crusader on Xbox One and it feels like an entirely new game...
