Battlefield 4 developer DICE has high hopes for the game's showing at Gamescom later this month, according to producer Daniel Matros.

No Caption Provided

"This will be one hell of a show #gamescom #bf4," Matros tweeted today.

It is not clear what DICE will show of Battlefield 4 during the event.

In addition to Battlefield 4, DICE owner Electronic Arts will show off Titanfall, FIFA 14, The Sims 4, and Need for Speed: Rivals during Gamescom.

Gamescom takes place August 21-25 in Cologne, Germany. GameSpot will be on-hand at the event all week long.

No surprise, the same hipsters here with the same over used arguments "lolol fps generic bullshit, cashgrab, lolol corporations" and yet they can't explain why the game is not different from the others because they never played it or they are bad at competitive games, this is one of the few AAA games that i actually enjoy to play on PC, however i will wait for the premium edition.

@ddoggbritt16 @udubdawgz @alenth

i'm not worried about other people, first.

second, like i said, if the next tes, halflife or fallout do not meet my standards, i will not buy them until they are reduced in price.

the video game industry is currently going through HUGE changes.

devs/pubs are trying to make HUGE profits and unfinished games is becoming a norm in the industry.

as a guy who only cares about better games AND getting my fair share for my money, i will NOT support cash grabs, lackluster repeats, etcetc.

edit: do you realize how CHEAP i can get so many games now or mere weeks/months after a games release?

@mixedboi90 @mezati4 @ddoggbritt16 @alenth It literally does not LOOK different at all. It's the same engine. Frostbite 3 is just a slightly tweaked version of Frostbite 2 and in the videos shown there is a barely noticeable difference.

If I could just buy the single player campaign for $20 I might still bother with the CoD's and BF's of the world, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. One would think, that with the push for digital distribution, it would not be too difficult to sell a stand alone version of the single player campaign for a lower price for those of us that would care to experience the single player and just skip the multiplayer. Or even digital game rentals, like that will ever happen.

@Fursnake The problem is these games aren't made for campaigns. Call of Duty 1 and 2 had a good campaign yea. The sole purpose of Battlefield is multiplayer. Since the beginning. BF1942 didn't have a campaign - the campaign was literally just playing the maps against bots. The campaign in BF3 blows, it takes a couple of hours max and all it does is show you what you can't do in multiplayer. BF4 campaign will be the same.

@Grenadeh

That seems to be something that is showing up more and more in games, short single player campaigns and a focus on the multiplayer. Personally I have little interest in the multiplayer format associated with these games. A couple of hours for the BF3 campaign?! That sounds waaaaay too short.

i'd buy ALL the single player campaigns of the generic, boring, repetative, sucker games on one disc IF IF IF they were at a great bargain price.

good call!

@Fursnake @udubdawgz

putting all the SHORT single-player portions of, say, cod and modern warfare, seems VERY simple and common sense and f'in DECENT on their part.

otherwise, i will NEVER play their games.

edit: ALL the multiplayer games that had single player ADD-ONS should do this.

correctly priced and i'd buy em.

Surprised CoD has not been mentioned in 82% of the comments. It's still early in the day.

@de-astroturfer It's not EA we are praising, it's DICE which is one of EA best developers.

@zerooo0 @de-astroturfer DICE is one of EAs worst developers. The last two good games they made were Mirror's Edge and Bad Company 2. Visceral has insanely more talent than them and instead of working on a good game (not Dead Space series since EA had them ruin that one) they are working on Battlefront - which is literally a clone copy of Battlefield. Check it, it came out after DICE made Battlefield 1942.

@ddoggbritt16 @de-astroturfer Well I would if the same rule was applied in reverse but EA seem intent on flooding internet forums with astroturfing nonsense designed to convince everyone this is the best thing since sliced bread, and that they should all go out and drop £60 on it because "normal people" think its great, whilst corporate dickheads with no real knowledge of games and no imagination, collect brainwashed kids and cynically count the cash

I am going to laugh at anyone who buys this for the PS3/360, It will not have any of the features that they have advertised. It will look no better than BF 3 and will still be 24 players max.

Does anyone who is thinking about picking it up for current gen realize that? BF 3 maxed out current gen.

I totally understand some people can't drop $400. But wouldn't you be better off continuing to play BF3 and save that $60 for the new system?

I am a big BATTLEFIED fan but bf3 was pretty mediocre on the 360 and that's with half the maps designed for the limited 24 players.

Now all the maps/features will be balanced around 32-64 player games and the 360/ps4 will get a cut down port.

60FPS, 1080p, & 64 players for Next Gen is gonna be so awesome. DICE is one of my favorite developers in the FPS genre.
