Dozens added to 360 backward-compatibility list

Rumored Psychonauts and Shenmue II included in the latest round of original Xbox titles enabled for play on the Xbox 360, along with a couple of surprises.

Microsoft today released an updated backward-compatibility list for the Xbox 360 featuring 37 more Xbox games that are now playable on the company's newest system. While all of the anticipated titles mentioned in a version of the list that leaked out earlier this week were indeed in the final update, there were also a couple of additions.

Among the more notable games on the list released today are Psychonauts, Shenmue II, Dead or Alive Ultimate, Indigo Prophecy, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Scarface, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and Ultimate Spider-Man. However, there were also a few new faces in Soul Calibur II (but only for North American 360 owners) and Conker: Live and Reloaded.

Microsoft's complete list of new games included in today's backward-compatibility update is below:

Upon finding out that Psychonauts was included in the update, the game's lead designer Tim Schafer said, "It looks official! Yeee haw!" And added: "I want to thank all the fans who mailed Microsoft on our account! It wouldn't have happened without them!"

MajorCow, FarCry? For xbox are you serious about being excited? Play it on computer and you'll hate the Xbox version so bad you'll break it.... seriously. Psychonauts, I finally get to play it :)

I don't really care about these backwards compatibitly stuff because I don't really care about xbox 1 games anymore anyways. why xbox games when you got 360 games I just don't see the reason at all. stop with the updates and work on making my 360 experience better.

Thank god Farcry is on there. My family only uses wireless, and my 360 has the wireless adapter, but I could never connect online using the original xbox. That meant I couldn't download the critical patch for that game. I was worried that they wouldn't include it becuase they wanted sales of the 360, but I'm glad to see thats not the case.
