EA Access Now Available On Xbox One

Subscription program leaves beta and is now available to anyone.

EA Access, the "game-changing" subscription program from Mass Effect and Battlefield publisher Electronic Arts, is now available for anyone on Xbox One. The program began last month for a limited number of beta testers, but now anyone can try out the service.

An EA Access subscription is $5/month or $30/year and lets you play any game in "The Vault" for as long as your subscription is active. You also get a 10 percent discount on EA digital games and content, as well as access to upcoming games five days before they are released.

The first four games confirmed for The Vault are FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2, and Battlefield 4. More will be added in the future, and might includes titles like EA Sports UFC, Need for Speed Rivals, and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, if box art featured on the EA Access website is anything to go on. Last week, EA COO Peter Moore promised that the company will not remove games from The Vault.

As for games you can play early, these begin with Madden NFL 15, FIFA 15, NHL 15, and Dragon Age: Inquisition later this fall. Early access for upcoming EA games will vary by game. For some games, you'll be able to play one mode for a limited time, while other games will allow you to play a full version for a limited time. In all cases, if you decide to buy the game when it is released, your progress will be saved, allowing you to pick up where you left off.

As for why EA Access is only available on Xbox One and not PlayStation 4, Sony said last week that it did not think the service offered the kind of value PlayStation fans have come to expect.

I signed up and am happy with the service. Out of the 4 games they have so far i only already owned Battlefield 4. I probably wouldn;t have bought madden 25 but have had fun playing it.

I also planned on getting NHL 15 as soon as it came out. Getting the game for 10% off is nice.

This service is all about patience. If you are patient and wait 30-60 days after the releases of new sports games I would think they would add them to the vault. Then for only $30 a year you play FIFA, Madden, (New Baseball game maybe by EA?), NBA Live...and so on

Cheap services used to entice us and to get us used to not owning their software. Then when it becomes the norm, they snatch away your right to physical ownership with a streaming cloud service. DON'T ENCOURAGE THIS BEHAVIOR.

For some players EA is offering a great service here.

To me not so much, but lets see how this plays out. If they do things right this can be an important factor on my decision between a PS4 and the X1.

Had a hard copy of Fifa and BF4. Went to gamestop today and got $48. Came home and spent $5 for the games I'm only going to play for this month. Put the $48 towards Destiny and reserved the Fifa 15 ill get to play early. I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS!!!!

I have no interest in EA or their games. Seems like the only people who still love EA are Xbox fanboys because they need to justify spending $30 a year to access their games while dissing a beta version of PSNow. Not surprising, I guess.

I for 1 love Fifa, Need for Speeds, Battlefield, Tiger Woods or PGA tour games. EA have made some great games a lot of which I have missed. For £19.99 a year, that's 41p a week. Thanks for the heads up on PSNow though I'll check that out as I haven't had much cause to play PS4 recently.
