Few movie franchises score their biggest successes seven films in, but the Fast and Furious series keeps getting bigger. With the massive box office haul of Furious 7 last year, and the eighth movie expected in 2017, the release dates for Fast and Furious 9 and 10 have now been confirmed.

Lead actor and producer Vin Diesel took to Instagram to reveal that part 9 will arrive in on April 19, 2019, with part 10 following on April 2, 2021. The dates were displayed alongside the tagline: "2 decades, 10 films, 1 saga."

Diesel's plan for a further three Fast and Furious films was announced last year, when he stated: "I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga." The actor has also hinted that additional spinoff movies could be made, focusing on some of the individual characters from the action series.

Last month, Furious 8 director F. Gary Gray described the challenge of delivering something different from the previous movies in the franchise. "We're really pushing to make sure the audience feels like it's not more of the same," he told Collider. "They feel like the characters they've come to know and love are there, but this is gonna be different.

"You amp up everything, you work on the performances, you work on the story, you work on the action. It's just not one thing."

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 14, 2017.
