For the first time in PAX East history, Nintendo won't attend

PAX East is kind of small potatoes compared to the other events, Sony isn't attending either. Oculus Rift and Star Citizen dog fighting demo is all I'm interest in this PAX.

and E3 this year?

Nintendo have no games to show beyond mario kart and SSB, the last games for the Wii U.

lol how come its 'Nintendo doesn't go to pax east' and not 'Sony declines to go to pax east' ? Way to spin this into a Nintendoom thing.

Cause they have nothing to show. The last new thing that was any good was an HD remake and the best they can come up with now is announcing what characters will be out in the up coming smash bros. Yawn.

Well that sucks. I was really excited about the 50th re-release of Mario.

If there is such thing as an undead company, Nintendo is the best definition of that.

And it's not like they're making any effort to change that situation, either.

Nintendo should make these booth demos available on the eShop, even if they choose to only have them up for a limited time. I doubt Nintendo has anything new to set up - or at least nothing they want to reveal just yet. No point in having the same booths that people have already played.

It seems as though Nintendo is withdrawing to regroup on its WiiU strategy. But to be honest, skipping out on PAX East is just a mistake. They should be there to show the world that they are not dead/dying. By withdrawing, they basically concede to this notion.

I'll actually say this for Nintendo, so what, pax East is small potatoes. However... They have nothing new to show anyway that everyone doesn't know about, so why waste money.

Poor Nintendo. They need to stop trying to redefine gaming with all their stupid gimmicks and improve what's already there. There's a reason why there's millions of gamers... because we like it the way it is.

Any gamer can tell you how to build a successful console. Make it powerful with a secure and intuitive online infrastructure and have good games. That's it, Nintendo. We have simple needs that seem to elude all of you. Stop over thinking things and get back to basics.

That is kind of sad. Nintendo are such a big part of the industry. A shame they are in the position they are in. Goes to show that you can refuse to innovate like COD, get loads of hate AND a couple of billion a year but eventually it will die. Nintendo have done very little in terms of innovation for as long as I can remember.

I remember playing Mario for the first time on the N64 and that feels totally ages ago because it was. And they are still selling with largely the same angle.

Nintendo, you're doing it wrong, we need to see you at big events; nintendo directs are a nice idea but as something extra, not instead of the events.

So it's only MS at this event then right?

My guess is that they will do everything this year at E3 2014 so they can get everything out of the way and maybe we will see them at Tokyo Game Show. Nintendo shouldn't have to skip this year's E3 anyway. They need the momentum as much as ever.

Absurd "click-grabbing" headline -- the first time in pax east history... so they went 3/3 times and now they are skipping one... Not a big deal.

Boston... Would be so awesome if Bethesda announced that new Fallout game set in Boston at PAX. :D

Nintendo needs to have a monumental E3.
