Gal Gadot Says Cleopatra Movie Is A Story "The World Needs To Hear"
"We're going to show not just how sexy and appealing she was, but how strategic and smart, and how much impact she had..."
Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot is playing Cleopatra in a new movie, and now she has shared some additional insight into what to expect from the film. Speaking to InStyle, Gadot said the movie will show how "sexy and appealing" Cleopatra was, as well as how smart she was. It's a story that the world "needs to hear now," Gadot said.
"I can't reveal a lot, but I can tell you that we're going to celebrate the Cleopatra story. We're going to show not just how sexy and appealing she was, but how strategic and smart, and how much impact she had and still has on the world we're living in today," Gadot said. "I've watched all the Cleopatra movies throughout history, but I feel like we're telling the story the world needs to hear now."
The Cleopatra film was originally going to be directed by Patty Jenkins, who directed Gadot in the Wonder Woman films. However, Jenkins dropped out, and now The Falcon and the Winter Soldier director Kari Skogland is directing.
This won't be the first biographical movie about Cleopatra, as Elizabeth Taylor portrayed the historical figure in the 1963 movie Cleopatra that won four Oscars.
In addition to the Cleopatra film, Gadot is lined up to play Wonder Woman again in a third film from Jenkins, who is also directing a Star Wars movie.
