Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot is playing Cleopatra in a new movie, and now she has shared some additional insight into what to expect from the film. Speaking to InStyle, Gadot said the movie will show how "sexy and appealing" Cleopatra was, as well as how smart she was. It's a story that the world "needs to hear now," Gadot said.

"I can't reveal a lot, but I can tell you that we're going to celebrate the Cleopatra story. We're going to show not just how sexy and appealing she was, but how strategic and smart, and how much impact she had and still has on the world we're living in today," Gadot said. "I've watched all the Cleopatra movies throughout history, but I feel like we're telling the story the world needs to hear now."

The Cleopatra film was originally going to be directed by Patty Jenkins, who directed Gadot in the Wonder Woman films. However, Jenkins dropped out, and now The Falcon and the Winter Soldier director Kari Skogland is directing.

This won't be the first biographical movie about Cleopatra, as Elizabeth Taylor portrayed the historical figure in the 1963 movie Cleopatra that won four Oscars.

In addition to the Cleopatra film, Gadot is lined up to play Wonder Woman again in a third film from Jenkins, who is also directing a Star Wars movie.

Yeah we don't know shit about Cleopatra apart from multi-millennia year old hieroglyphics with a scuffed interpretation... But I'm sure a rich movie star would know deeply who she was.

@Sound_Demon: Cleopatra was a contemporary of Rome. They wrote in Greek, not in third dynasty pictiform.

@Sound_Demon: Sadly that's the backbone of knowledge that most people have of history, wildly inaccurate movies. Based on the little we do know about her, she did seem to be a very smart and successful ruler, but given the time period we're in right now, I'm sure they'll lay the feminism angle on this like a snowshovel on a piece of toast. They'll take a potentionally good movie and make it cringeworthy.

I'm sure the critics will love it though.
