Get 15 Free Games At Epic This Holiday - Solitairica Is Free Now

The Epic Games Store will have one free game per day for a limited time, and the latest is now available.

Epic already gives away free games every week on the Epic Games Store, but during a portion of December, it's upping its game and giving away a new freebie every day. This is more generous than even last year's promotion, as it's offering 15 free games over 15 days. With the end of the year quickly approaching, only a few of the freebies remain, but you can still grab them provided you sign up for (or already have) a free Epic account.

Today's freebie (December 29) is Solitairica, a card-based RPG that blends roguelike elements with Solitaire. You'll be able to download the game at no charge until 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET on December 30, when Epic's next freebie becomes available.

While Epic isn't revealing the freebies ahead of time, a leaked list of the 15 freebies has been spot on so far. So it looks as if you can expect the others on the list to still come, provided there are no last-minute changes.

In addition to giving away free games, Epic's Holiday Sale is live now and is filled with steep discounts on hundreds of games. You can get a free $10 off coupon to use during the sale on games priced $15 and up. Every time you make an eligible purchase, you'll get a new coupon. Essentially, there are many games that, with the coupon applied, are on sale for their best prices yet.

Um. That list is missing Darkest Dungeon and My Time at Portia. (There were free games on the 25th and 26th). And I guess it just hasn't been updated to include Solitairica from yesterday.

I feel like, so far, Alien: Isolation has been the only big freebie. Oddworld, The Long Dark, Metro 2033 Redux, Inside, Darkest Dungeon, and Night in the Woods are all great games and worth checking out, but none of them have that punch of, "Oh, damn! They've giving away __________?! How did they manage to swing that?"

With only only two games to go, I'm not optimistic we're going to see a really major heavy hitter. Still, it's impossible to complain about free games and, personally, I'm really happy with Alien: Isolation and Stranded Deep (a game I've been curious to check out, but I typically avoid paying for 'early access' games, especially in the survival/crafting/exploration genre).

@thedarklinglord: Oddworld, Inside and Metro 2033 were also really good. BTW, Gog.com is giving away Metro Last Light today. That's an even better game than Metro 2033. Get it while you can, because it will gone by the end of the day. https://www.gog.com

Too bad you can't go back and cherry pick the ones you've missed. Do the games ever come back free again or are they paid forever?

Not really my kind of game, but Epic has been throwing out some real bangers throughout this year, so I'm sure there will be at least one game I'm really excited for before the end.

I'm one to never look a gift horse in the mouth. Thanks, Epic, and thanks Fortnite players for footing the bill. 😁

Nothing's truly "free" as they say. But I have amassed a solid library from EGS and I'll grab more in the coming weeks it sounds like.

@Terrorantula: Them asking you which games you like and then giving you those for free would be pushing it a bit, don't you think :D
