God of War: Ascension 'Bros before Hos' trophy to be altered

God of War: Ascension developer Sony Santa Monica today confirmed that the game's "Bros before Hos" trophy will be altered through an upcoming patch. Once gamers apply the patch, the trophy will become "Bros Before Foes," according to Joystiq.

The developer provided a statement to GameSpot on the matter, saying after concerns were raised to the studio, the decision was made to alter the "offensive" trophy title.

"We have created and will soon push out a patch for God of War: Ascension that alters the title of one of the game Trophies. The text was offensive to some members of our community and impacted their enjoyment of the game," Sony Santa Monica's statement reads.

"We are endlessly committed to ensuring that our community can fully enjoy the experiences the team has created," the statement goes on. "As such, we've addressed the feedback and amended the Trophy in question."

Joystiq reports that the trophy is unlocked when players vanquish Fury, one of the game's female antagonists.

Be honest guys. How many of you have actually used the phrase bros before hos in everyday conversation, with a woman present? I have. No girl I have ever said this too has ever been offended the way people apparently are with this trophy.

I can see it now. GTA V is going to have bros before hos as a trophy, but with actual hos being part of the requirement. And if anyone complains, Rockstar won't cave in.

This.

I can see how someone might think the phrase offensive, but in the context of the game it's kind of an insane complaint.

I remember on the TV show "House," the main character used the exact same phrase in an episode. But no one cared because House's character is *supposed* to be acerbic, if not outright offensive. Same thing here... the game takes place in a male-centric world and involves eviscerating people. Why complain about a trophy title?
