Gran Turismo 5 delay explained

its fine, keep delaying it, all we know is that Sony and Polyphony are just unreliable. Sure they make some of if not the best games, but are they really meeting the audiences needs and satisfactions. Surely they know to put their consumers first right? Why say a game is coming out at such a date when really you know it won't be out, it may seem to be a teaser that will get people revved up about it, and maybe that will be the case once or twice, but when its a period this long, I am sure that they have lost quite a few followers and pissed a lot of people off. I will be getting this game as it does look amazing but even if it is worth the wait, which is always highly unlikely, this amount of delay has been appalling. They have failed the fan base miserably there. Very disappointing.

I think PD is trying to make this game so realistic that, they're using this extra time to figure out how to fit an airbag into the controller.

The sad thing is that it was probably really GT5's November 2 release date that "delayed" the other racer I was waiting for too. Anyone want to bet on whether TDU2 gets delayed again because of this? If they'd just have admitted the game wouldn't be out until 2011 in the first place, we'd probably have TDU2 already.

I think the 5 years of hype surrounding this game can only hurt it at this point. I doubt they could deliver what fans are expecting. This game has been in the making for too long, so we all are expecting a perfect racing game, which I don't think we'll get. But I do think it should be a great game...just not a 10/10 game. Hope I'm wrong.

Bangerman15 Its not gonna be the best game ever,but it will probably be the best racing game ever.Forza is freaking awesome but I expect GT5 to be even better.

@Bangerman15, GT5 is amazing, thats it. But if you want the real reasons why, it is amazing, because of the gameplay videos, and the responds of the experts that played the game in the events.

why are some people saying this game is gonna be the best game ever made or whatever when its not even out and they havent even played it themselves...

i was always planning on buying NFS hot pursuit this fall and dirt 3 in the spring anyway.

This is not the second coming of Duke Nukem forever, this is a very proud game franchise that has its developers making sure that they are getting absolutely everything right before they release the game. I applaud them for not rushing and releasing the game two years ago, sure I would have loved to have been playing it but I would rather have a mostly glitch free experience. People need to understand that if you spend 60 million dollars on a game, its going to take a while to develop. The game will be worth the wait!!

Yawn this again? When it arrives I will play it, there really isn't much coming out these days that are worth to price anyway. Black Ops, not getting that unless it's second hand...Activision plans on setting up some pay crap, any one else trying that I will do the same to their games. Everything is set up to play GT5 when it arrives, delay or not makes no difference to me. It's only so long it can be held back at this point, too much info has been shown and many play tests. This excuse is a cover up for something else I'm guessing, finding issues, then searching code to fix, then debug all over again, that will take easily a month, not including the time it takes to go to press and print. Don't buy this excuse for one second!

Oh no, a game destined to be great was delayed a few more days. Let's go ahead and bash Sony and the developer of the title itself, Polyphony Digital, for such a catastrophe! What ever will we do in the mean time? Get over it. The game was delayed again. November 2 was /never/ set in stone. The game was announced for the holiday season of 2011 and according to Sony, the publisher, it will meet its mark. I've also had this game pre-ordered at the local Hastings for nearly two years and I demand nothing of it. Why? PD has always delivered a stellar game, try to prove me wrong. I'm waiting longer for an even moreover polished experience. My opinion of Sony or PD will not be influenced by a 'discount' or 'free DLC' but over the end-product which, just look at the game, will be incredible. It's almost amusing to read about how needy some folk are. It's more amusing to see others take unrequited jabs at Sony and PD for this delay. It does suck but get over it. No console will have a racing game that meets this caliber this generation. This is the end-all and for such a game, I can patiently wait.

i guess is ok with me since i wil be busy playing Black ops on NOV 9th hopefully.

the real reason is he was too scared by kinects launch. who would buy this game for 60 bucks when for 90 bucks more you can get alot more fun for your money.

Also to add to @epross point on Pre-ordering this game. It doesn't make sense for PS3 owners to pre-order an exclusive game. We know they will make enough copies of this game, It won't be like Demons Souls. And yeah the Kinect bundle with adventures should beat this game in pre-orders because the potential chance that the Kinect is sold out is a lot higher then that of GT5 being sold out. It's a lot easier to print a new game disc then it is to build a motion sensing camera. Another reason the GT5 Pre-order could be low is because no one knows what the expect from it, could be delayed again, could just suck flat-out, could be amazing, but there is no current gen backing to compare it too. (GT5 Prologue was to make more money to finish production on this game) Take Blackops and Force unleashed 2, they both had great games that came out on current gen systems and performed well. (especially MW2) So pre-ordering a game like that is a lot easier to justify. (I also bet neither of these two games will sell out either, defeating the purpose of pre-ordering) But to my original point. This makes more sense strategically not to go up against a game like MW Black ops, which will have record breaking sales. Doesn't look good to stakeholders when you release a game and all of the industry news is how MW shatters original record setting sales volume. Management recognized this and took a smarter approach.

I'm all for Sony and their products but this is just a joke...

I've had this game reserved for a while now and it keeps getting delayed. I DEMAND A DISCOUNT! (or at least some awesome DLC) :lol:

@Tdotslinkz, there are about 12 exclusives(maybe more) coming 2011 for the PS3, if they delay GT5 to 2011, no way they are able to sell the game. So if Sony and PD are smart they will release the game before Chirstmas.

i'm still playing Forza 3, so this may actually get it back on my radar if it comes out in December when my gaming slate is blank.

Maybe it will come in some day.... preorders in this case don't mean anything. We're all waiting for it, we're just not going to shell out on a promise that it will arrive soon.

i got the logitech g25 steering wheel like 2 years ago just for this game! and now the g27 came out and this game still didn't come out!! god if it doesnt get a 10.0 rating theis game will be a FAIL.!!! thev'e spent like more than 5 years on this game, god my computer teacher can do better than that!! guys dont wait for the game, even if it's ready in january, their gonna wait till the summers to sell ot coz thats when people buy it the most. =O

@ Crapgamer Were are you getting thes pre-order numbers from? I hope not from VGChartz as that is not reliable at all and is just like you and I trying to guess numbers. Also, GT5 isn't expected to sell that well in NA as it appeals more to Europe and Asia market.

Smart move. More "complex systems" = "MW Black-ops" would kill our sales. I think this is a great move by Sony upper management. They would see a lot of their sales get cannibalized at least until December anyway. This way if they release this on Black Friday or even Early December most gamers would have already experienced Halo reach and Black ops. Leaving them hungry for a new game to play during Holiday break. At least this is the way this plays out in my mind. I will be getting this game, black ops and the Force unleashed so I am fine with this delay.

it probably isnt coming out this year. What the hell is an extra month gonna change? not much. Early 2011 AT the earliest.

I bet the next thing we hear will be about the game being delayed to the next holiday season...

Probably didn't help that the pre orders were low, I mean when Kinect Adventures is beating you in pre orders something is wrong. At this point I doubt many people actually care about this game. I wouldn't want to release up against titles like Black Ops, Force Unleashed 2, Fable 3, Kinect ect..... Nice spin to the real truth though. Anyway you look at it, it's a slap!

@ ChiefFreeman I think he didn't use that strong a language about the game coming out this year because IF there is another delay he doesn't want to eat his words again. This better be the most polished racing game ever with all of these polishing delays. I think the game could come out early in the holiday season, maybe around early December. Based on nothing but hopes.
