Metal Gear Solid: Rising resurfaces

It's not supposed to be MGS. It says Metal Gear. It's an action game just like The first two Metal Gear games where. I don't see TES(tactical espionage action) anywhere. Why are you people complaining. Raiden looks really cool. If they make the mechanics work right, I won't mind buying this game.

It is looking more "beat em' up" than when I saw it last. I liked the mechanic of slicing any (or most) objects in halves, or thirds if i want.

Just another hack 'n slash in a year filled with them. I liked Bayonetta, but this looks more like Ninja Gaiden III than MGS.

I thought the swordplay was going to require more skill (hence being able to slice through everything.) So I guess they realised that most people just wanted enemies that resisted Raiden's sword, except when he's in "sharp sword mode"?

More stealth would be nice.

It seems like an interesting game, even if it has about as much stealth as much as God of War has.

XD I just realize, it Metal Gear, not Metal Gear Solid. (thankfully) I'm just so use to seeing MGS. Anyway, Vamp has nothing on that version of Raiden. lol I'm sure It'll be fun taking out Metal Gears with a sword. It's all so different, and a bit cheesy, but should work out.

first trailer was so promising and looked like a real deal,but after this trailer it change my mind completely,so childish another H&S like Bayonetta or ninja gaiden,Now i'm passing by a mile this . I guess i was hoping to much and forgot that the Japanese behind this game with their crazy brains...

Devil may Cry, Ninja Gaiden 3, Darksiders 2, Devil's Third, Lollipop Chainsaw....and also this Raiden game.....year 2012 is going to be amazing !!!

If this was a TV show, this would be a spin-off. I mean thats what happens with successful franchises. Look at Halo... That has a lot of prequels and etc... But, I'm looking forward to buying this game for like 30 bucks. Meaning I'll wait a little bit b4 I play. But, it does look good though. Cheers to anything that comes out of Kojima Productions!

@phoenix5352 i'm a bit lacking on faith towards Kojima Productions after Castlevania LoS... i'm not getting my hopes up this time. we'll see when some reviews start rolling in.

hmmm, i know it doesn't looks like a metal gear game at all... but it does look pretty cool so... i'll give it a try anyway;-)

If devs listened to video games fans all the time we would be playing the same game for the past 25 years. Nothing new would ever be made. Let artist create their art.

@illness2006, Simplistically well put, my friend. I guess only time will tell how this will play out. I don't doubt PG's skills as a dev; however not sure if throwing in too much of their 'flavor' into a MG universe will exactly gel entirely (...let's face it, that trailer was horridly done--PG know they could've done better than that). Hopefully it'll work out for the best--just so long as Kojima Production doesn't give too much control over and at least maintain ensuring that the game will be equally balance w/ both studios respective styles.

Kojima, give the fans what they want. Make Raiden hide in a box for 70% of the game so the fans can consider this a Metal Gear game. Seriously, you guys need to get a grip. Can a guy do something different?

it looked really good the last time i saw it in action like a year ago...now it looks kind of retarded

platinum games make great titles. it looks like a game with a lot of soul and some cool mechanics, but mgs fanboys will absolutely loath it.

I agree that this new metal gear is far from the experience we all had with the others, but i bet the storytelling and the cutscenes will make up for the hack and slash gameplay. We will just have to see what it is like, if you do not like it then dont play it keep the memories of the others in your head.

While it looks cool and it is in the world of MGS. This is NOT MGS and everything that MGS has made itself to be... Rebooted, Resurrected.... blah blah, they forgot.... "REGURGITATED" If I wanted to play Devil May Cry or similar Swordplay games and such... then I would play them. This is fine as a MGS world based SPIN-OFF but I hope that they will get back on track and create more MGS games on par with those that have gotten them this far into the gaming history books and built their fanbase from.

Snake is now an old man whose strengths include stealth mode and tactical espionage and although he is still capable of CQC, he has aged quite alot... On the other hand, Raiden is a cyborg and its pretty obvious he will be capable of doing some pretty bada.ss superhuman stuff...And that is exactly what this trailer shows us....Its a little too cheesy for some but over the top action is a MGS trademark... But its also true that this is not exactly a true MGS game but that's the whole point cuz it is actually a spin off with a game set in the Metal Gear universe... I seriously am looking forward to this cuz I am sure that even though the game-play has changed drastically, the story telling will be top notch as usual.... I don't understand why people are so pissed off by this trailer...I would have been really pissed only if the trailer was for MGS 5, but its not...So chill out guys... Hideo Kojima has plans for MGS 5 too and he isn't dumb enough to ruin the whole franchise for the fans with Metal Gear Rising..Think about it...

Wow. overreact much? yes its a far cry from the usual MGS formula but its supposed to be. honestly I think it looks awesome albiet alittle cheesy. but with platinum games behind development its at least guranteed to be fun, anyone remember Bayonetta?

Raiden is Superman now, apparently... Uhg. I can't stress enough how awful the trailer was. This game looks like it's going to be complete garbage. You are kidding yourself if you think this game is going to be anything more than a cheesy, QTE riddled God of War ripoff.

Um, wow, people are overreacting. This game was always supposed to be a spin-off, and a rather extreme one at that. Lightning bolt action is not tactical stealth action. Outside of that, it's PLATINUM GAMES, why are people worried here? I just don't get it, people fear change, apparently, even when it makes a game that could have been just a simple spin-off into a prospective greatest hack 'n' slasher of 2012.

It should be called metal gear rising: subsvengence substance code raven lightning code prefix This will be next ninja game that ive always wanted to play in metal gear 2 sons liberty, dam loved that samurai prototype slicing hell outta people even walking down corridor brought erriness. This is next stage sons liberty 2 those who do not remember it will probably not care for this version as it shares a path. One thing they'll bring new similar to left4dead 2 the way you can damage enemy visually as each slice will be in many forms torso slice, head slice, hand slice, both leg slice, sword in spine maybe slice well let's just say they're taking this game and spitting on ninja gaiden 3 and that has no decapitation so speak

This game isn't a metal gear, just like RE4 wasn't a Resident Evil game... They are using the name to sell it to fans. Oh well i always wanted to see Kratos, kicking the hell out of a Metal Gear RAY

Kojima said "Solid Snake's story may have ended but there are plenty more for Naked Snake" then why made this?

People "zone of the enders" was a Hideo kojima action game and that was a classic. For me thumbs up its time for something new but will enbrace snake with open arms or at lest an open wallet when he comes back. I'll Holla!!!

Ninjas are above all things stealthy assassins. For the typical warrior, you can claim a samurai variation. But for future spec ops, espionage, infiltration, assassinations, etc a cyborg ninja would fit in well. With the compelling gameplay of the MGS serie, Raiden could be a Sam Fisher with a sword. Using his standard MGS gadget to infiltrate solo and accomplish his mission. Of course the player could choose at times, a more Rambo approach, where Raiden could do what he did in the trailer, but the core gameplay of a MGS, should not be mindless hack and slash and dancing around like Bayoneta...

how are people saying it non cannon when kojima productions are overseeing the game? and i for one am interested in this game i think it's time for something new i mean how can you expect a game with a cyborg ninja as the main character for it to be a stealth game? now the game may flop or it could be a huge success but i for one am going to give it a chance

So, this isn't a metal gear game after all, just an action with a metal gear skin

Neon Genesis Evangelion ( atmosphere and music before and through fighting), Vampire Hunter D movie , and FF7 sepiroth vs Cloud.

The name Metal Gear shouldn't be used in the title because this isn't Metal Gear. :(
