Microsoft demonstrates code redemption via Kinect

Microsoft shows off how functionality works on next-generation console.

Microsoft previously confirmed that the Xbox One can scan codes using the new Kinect camera, removing the need for manual entry. Now, the company has demonstrated this functionality in real time.

Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb demoed the functionality today in a Vine. He says, "Xbox, Use Code," and after placing the code in front of the camera, it appears in a matter of seconds.

The Xbox One launches on November 22 for $500.

Normally I wouldn't see voice recognition to be very beneficial but I gotta be honest, entering those download codes can be annoying as all hell, especially when 0's look like O's. Good use of kinect though. I would try it. Might even prefer it

What the hell is going on with the marketing team as Microsoft these days? Are they actually trying their hardest to drive consumers away? NO-ONE WANTS OR GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE STUPID DUMB KINECT.

Yes, I prefer the MS brand and what they offer. I doubt I buy many Kinect only games but I'm interested to see how it has improved. I'm very interested in how it will be used going forward in games as an additional feature.

MS has much better online infrastructure than Sony and offers features that I'm more interested in. That justifies the higher price. Kinect is a bonus for me.
