343 isn't the only thing pointing towards Halo, also the number 17. John-117(I think) is master chief, and Bungie has a not-so-well hidden fetish towards 7. Now, the number of the month, July, is 7. The "Date of status"(Whatever that means) is July the 17th. 7^3 is also 343. Most likely it's got something to do with either bungie or halo, at the very least it's a big nod towards it. Who knows, maybe MS is just trying to make us confused.

I've been sick of halo since halo 2. To tell you the truth the story, gameplay, whole series in general is not that great.

Just because this potential new Microsoft in-house development team's name is 343 Industries (Obvious reference to 343 Guilty Spark) doesn't mean they would make solely Halo based games. At any rate cant wait to see what comes out of this news.

Hmmm...probably more Halo games on the way. Wonder if they might do a MMORPG Halo game.

Though the number "343" might mean nothing to many gamers, it has major significance to fans of the Halo series. First and foremost, it is the name of 343 Guilty Spark, one of the series' most humorous, enigmatic, and--ultimately--lethal foes. An artificial intelligence housed inside a diminutive-but-powerful metal shell (pictured) built by the Forerunner race which constructed the game's titular ringworlds, 343 was worshipped as "The Oracle" by the multiracial interstellar theocracy known as the Covenant--the game's primary antagonist race. Unfortunately, for much of the Master Chief story arc, the machine is focused on activating the Halo arrays and destroying all life in the galaxy.

The name "343 Industries" also sounds less like a game and more like a label--a label that would be perfectly apt for the internal division of Microsoft Game Studios dedicated to the Halo franchise. Bogus or not bogus?: While thin, it's looking not bogus. Unless Microsoft is planning some sort of Railroad Tycoon-type manufacturing simulator, 343 Industries is almost certainly not a game. And if it's an internal studio--which << LINK REMOVED >>--the number points squarely at the Halo franchise.
