Microsoft: We don't "force" Rare to make Kinect games

Yep I actually enjoy turning my tv on with my voice so in the long run I don't care about kinect games.calling out commands in games works so tired of all the xbox trash talk :) playing with technology is kool :)

Kinect is amazing, those who say otherwise have never used one.

So I guess it's just coincidence that up until they made an Xbox game, their games were amazing.

I wonder if Rare had slighted Microsoft or Bill Gates in the past, and what they have done to Rare is the ultimate revenge. You don't kill Rare, you buy them, and then have them work on worthless and mediocre projects until the end of time. A doom much worse than death, ha, ha, ha, ha!

You still squandered their talent. These guys did Star Fox, Goldeneye and KI, and you got them making Grabbed by the Ghoulies and crappy Kinect games. What a waste of money and talent.

Phil Spencer is equivocating with his words. There is little difference between encouraging someone and forcing someone. No one has said that Microsoft held a gun to Rare's head. All they said is that Microsoft is behind Rare's choice to make Kinect games and that is still true. Rare is not doing it because the technology is good. They are doing it because Microsoft wants them to so this article makes a bogus point. This article was also probable encouraged by Microsoft with paid money.

Grabbed by the ghoulies, conker reloaded, kameo,perfect dark zero,viva pinata 1 @ 2, banjo nuts and bolts,and the kinect sports series. Plus re-releases of banjo 1 @ 2 and perfect dark on arcade..........plus having had the rare ip killer instinct made by double helix. Doesnt seem like a bad use of rare to me. Ive thoroughly enjoyed all those games.

MS needs to find some talented developers and allow them to work on some of these Rare franchises.

Rare has never been a great match with Microsoft...the only company that encourages and nurture's Rare's kind of crazy is Nintendo. This isn't even about flames or fanboyism, I'm pretty sure the history of brilliant Nintendo-era games to mediocre-MS games speaks for itself.

Yeah you didn't force them to make Kinect games, but you also didn't allow them to make the games they wanted after becoming a Microsoft 1st party studio. Notice that all of their critically acclaimed games were from when they were a 2nd party with Nintendo and prior. Clearly there was some sort of "force" used against Rare because like you said "it's never a successful equation" and since Rare has become a Microsoft studio, they've rarely had success critically under them where it was practically every game they came out with prior.

This just goes to show that they're hearing people talk about how hated their crappy Kinect games are, and how we all think MS is forcing their studios to make soulless garbage, and they deny deny deny.

Yall should force them to make a new Perfect Dark exclusive for Xbox One, Rare + 64 FTW

Rare is dead, so anything that comes from them now doesn't matter.

We don't force them to. We just won't pay to publish non kinect games developed by them.

Now Microsoft can also add the statement "We don't "force" people to buy the Kinect" to their repertoire.

The rare people want is dead so it doesn't matter anyway. It's just a name that means good times with Nintendo now.

Microsoft speaking to the press is never a good equation either.
