Minecraft Xbox 360 sells 7 million

Console version of open-ended sandbox game reaches new sales milestone.

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has now sold over 7 million copies, developer Mojang announced today over Twitter.

"Minecraft on Xbox has now sold 7 million copies!!! CRAZY! =D," business developer Daniel Kaplan said.

It is unclear if this figure is referencing the Xbox Live Arcade version, the disc-based retail version, or combined sales of both. Mojang was not immediately available to comment.

The XBLA version of Minecraft crossed 6 million units sold at the end of March, while the disc-based iteration released this month and broke retail records in the United States.

Meanwhile, the PC/Mac/Linux version of Minecraft recently crossed 11 million copies sold.

This game shows that graphics are not always important. But what is important is playability of the game. How many hours will a person play a given game is a true test to how good a game is. I personally hate this game. It is a big virtual LEGOLAND. If that's what they like good for them. Let them have at it. For me its too much like work,

I remember when being a kid we actually go outside and built forts and ran around the woods, now there's a game to shelter you from actually seeing the sun even... its sad... that and they should lower the price, even I don't see how this game is worth $20

@hector530 @himmler that's not what I am stating though, my nephew plays this game over everything else that comes out, and I see there is no point to this game, even Terria is a better game with a lot more content in it... if you play Minecraft you are a loser is what I am stating

@malokevi its just ashame he's got ADHD and I wish he apply himself more at least playing games, he doesn't even like watching cut scenes in any games and he never finishes any game completely, kust goes back to minecraft constantly

@himmler @hector530 My little cousin is a minecraft feend... the kid is like 8 years old, and makes my minecraft creations look like a hunk of shit. His world is nothing short of insane. For an 8 year old, quite an imagination.

Hes not a loser, hes a boy. When I was a kid, I dug holes in the backyard... but I also spent countless summer hours in my dark basement playing duckhunt and Super Mario Bros 3, among other games.

Same shit, different day.

@vI_DigiTaL_Iv @himmler @hector530 Its the same for judging people for watching TV shows, do you watch "Here comes honey boo hoo" everyweek or "breaking bad". Just as for games.. do you play minecraft over Civilization V or the total war series... at least those games stimulate you mind, besides its funny on people like you get so upset over internet postings
